Bingo Betty 0.8.0 + Demo 6.0 Patch notes

There's a visual polish pass, an item overhaul where every single item shapes your ball pool, a fresh scoring pot that makes big chains legible as well as more valuable, some quality of life improvements, and a flying saucer that steals your balls (it's a good thing, trust me). Let's get into it.

The Item Overhaul: No Item Is a Boring Item

  • Every passive item in the game now augments your ball pool. Buy a musical item and your specials lean toward Shuffles and Party balls; stack medical items and here come the slimes and meatballs. Over 350 items got a pool component matched to their flavor.

  • Added a preview to show special ball odds for each character to both the character select screen and the gameplay. Hover your portrait mid-run and the new spread radar shows your innate odds as a ghost with your item-modified odds filled in on top. Now you can see where your specials are coming from!

  • Items can now carry multiple effectsan upside and a downside, a weight bias plus a wacky bonus. Nearly 30 items got reworked with cross-mechanic second effects: haunted balls that drop Springs, bombs that knock Springs loose, slimes that trail Ectoplasm, gold balls that attract UFOs. Chains you couldn't build before are now build-arounds.
  • Blocker items got restructured: a strong buff up front, a hard block as the cost (your slimes score big, but no more whoopies). Selling the item lifts the block.

  • Economy items (money grants and discounts) are now limited-use consumables. Shop resets are the bottleneck on your power curve, not infinite discount stacking. Uses show right on the item.

  • Every item description got a readability rewrite. No more staring at a weight number wondering what it does to your run (hopefully).

The Chain Pot: Big Chains You Can Actually Read

  • Scoring got a full rework. Instead of every line quietly paying out on its own with its own multipliers, a chain now drops its points into one visible POT under the score counter, and every celebration along the way (bingos, sets, double-blotters, blackouts) stamps a "+Nx" onto one running multiplier.

  • When the chain ends, the pot pays out all at once: pot × multiplier, one clean number. You can finally watch a monster chain build and know exactly what it's worth before it lands.

  • Under the hood this also killed an old bug where line points were secretly being counted several times over. Scores are honest now, so a few things were rebalanced around the real numbers.

Stat Spreads: Know Your Odds

  • Each character now has a signature special-ball DISTRIBUTION: a primary special type they roll often, a secondary lean, and a couple of blind spots. Betty fishes different waters than Hank. The special pie stays the same size; the slices just move.

  • The spread shows as a radar diagram on the character-select carousel and on your portrait hover mid-run, with a base-type odds strip beneath it.

Multi-Blotter: That's Spamtastic!

  • You are now allowed to apply multiple blotters at the store, provided you have the cash to pay for them.

  • Blotters now spawn with more ink for every stage you have delved into during a run

New Flair: The UFO

  • Place a ball on a UFO flair and the saucer ABDUCTS it: the ball never lands. It hovers visibly above the board, waits for your NEXT card, and delivers itself there, special effects and all. Bombs, lines, and carried blotters fire on arrival.

  • This is carryover fuel: abducted balls are how a blackout chain keeps rolling onto the next card. Double+ blackouts are now more feasible.

  • One reworked item now seeds UFOs from gold placements ("the hat was right, they're here"), and the new Bingo Boomerang carries balls from completed sets to your next card the same way.

Flair Tweaks

  • Confetti flairs pay out bigger now. A full board of confetti is real points, not just sparkle. They will also help combat those nasty FEVER mode negative balls

  • Singularity flairs got a buff too, so they never come alone again.

  • Spring flairs got a visual polish pass to more clearly display that they are adding score to the ball as they bounce

The Glossary: Every Rule in One Place

  • There's a full in-game Glossary now. Balls, spaces, blotters, flairs, sins, scoring, tips: every system in the game is written up, so you're never guessing what a space does mid-run.

  • Open it from the pause menu and flip through the category pages to look up anything on the fly.

Menus & Screens Got a Pass

  • The Collection screen got a slight touch up in the form of sorting, so browsing everything you've unlocked is more pleasant now.

  • Character portraits now show your Fever-level progress as stars, so you can see how far you've pushed each senior at a glance.

  • The end-of-run results screen got an overhaul: better looking and more informative, so a finished run tells you how it went.

  • Scene changes now wipe across the screen in a cascade of bingo balls instead of a hard cut.

  • The title screen is alive now: ambient balls arc across the menu

  • Several new backgrounds configurations have been added to the game, and they now scale in intensity and theme to fit the different stages of the game

Balance

  • Shop blotter offers raised to 3-6 per visit (was 1-5), and the blotter pool is now weighted so splash and auto-draw blotters (the chain engines) actually show up.

  • Blotter items that grant additional blotter uses now actually grant you free blotter uses when you purchase blotters from the shop

  • Flat score items now scale with the round goal (sub-linearly), so your +50 trinket from stage 1 still matters at stage 6 without outpacing your line/blackout engine.

  • Score values were re-tuned around the new honest Chain Pot math (see above), since the old scoring was quietly inflating line payouts.

  • The shop will now allow you to pay an exorbitant fee to reroll it if you run out of your own rerolls.

Bugfixes / Polish / Small Changes

  • Fixed a wedge where mashing Draw at the exact moment the round summary appeared could park the summary over the shop and lock the run.

  • Fixed rounds and shops that could start with a drawn-but-empty hand, disabling the Draw button; the game now un-wedges itself at every entry point.

  • Fixed a selected ball with no legal target becoming un-cancelable when selected from the hold slot. Cancel also works while hovering a space now.

  • Fixed getting stuck on Cloud, Void, and Glass spaces: if your whole hand had nowhere to go on one of those, the game wasn't offering you the redraw. It does now.

  • Cloud fog now means exactly one thing: a ball is hiding in there. Knock that ball loose (envy, gluttony, a movement effect) and the fog clears.

  • Fixed the shop shelf showing your discounted price but charging full price at the register. The label and the till agree now.

  • Fixed clearing the round goal on your literal last draw entering the boss fight with 0 HP and freezing the game.

  • Fixed winning on your very last draw being read as a loss: the game was calling the run over before your final chain finished paying out. It now waits for the pot to land before it ever declares game over.

  • Your drawn hand is now saved with your run. Quit and come back and you'll pick up the exact balls you had. No more re-rolling your hand on load (and no more save-scumming your draws).

  • Losing a run now actually ends it. A lost run can't be resumed from the title anymore, and returning to the title fully wipes the previous run's state so nothing bleeds into your next one.

  • Fixed resuming a run on a later stage loading you back into the wrong (early-stage) scenery; you get the right backdrop for your stage now.

  • Fixed the card queue staying stuck off-screen when you resumed straight into the shop (or started a fresh run after quitting from the shop); it slides into place like it should.

  • Fixed a crash in the boss-victory celebration (plus extra stabilization for effect-heavy builds).

  • Fixed saying "No, Thanks" to the tutorial... launching the tutorial.

  • Fixed the draw hotkey staying live on the title screen after a lost run.

  • Fixed phantom "roaming meatball" cases where an external move (envy steal, conveyor, gravity, portal) could leave a meatball tracked at the wrong space.

  • Offline practice matches against bots work again (they crashed at Start Match).

  • Boss fights save and restore cleanly now: quit mid-fight and resume right where you left off.

  • Fixed the boss sometimes ending its turn early during a fight.

  • Steadied up the camera during boss fights so the view doesn't fight over who's in control.

  • Tidied up virtue activation and the virtue button during boss fights, combat-round entry cleanup, and a pile of internal error-spam fixes that make heavy scenes noticeably smoother.

What's Next for Betty?

More polish, more chaos, and more reasons to gamble away that social security. If you hit 100% specials, I want to see the clip. And as always, if you hit a softlock or something looks broken, send me as much detail about what happened as you can; the screenshots genuinely help. Thanks for playing. P.S. Please draw me some fan art of betty or whatever else suits your fancy from the game! I would love to see what your guys interpretations of the retirement crew would entail! ~Eli
