Bingo Brawl - Online Multiplayer has been added to the game! 1v1s and 64-player tournaments in glorious turn-based tcg combat!

That’s right. And not just a quick little multiplayer funsies match either. Bingo Brawl is an entirely separate gameplay scheme that completely changes everything you know about bingo betty. In this mode, you can create your own deck of balls and craft a strategy that fits your personality. Loadouts have more possibilities than can be mathematically processed so let your imagination go wild! Fans of Magic: The Gathering or Yu-gi-oh! Will be right at home in this frankenstein’s portmanteau of bingo and a tcg. has the following features:

  • Unique loadout build system involving creating your own cards, decks of balls, and even taking in items and virtues! Items and virtues have completely different abilities in MP as well so watch out! (Jointment in MP is a personal favorite, meatball meta RISE UP!)

  • Completely new scoring system for a fresh combat system inspired by TCG’s like Magic and Yu-Gi-Oh. Create lines combining different base “energy types” to attack your opponent, heal yourself, ramp your ball advantage, and apply removal all in one shebang! Has all the archetypes you know and love like Aggro, Mill, Control, and Combo. I’m sure you all will be a lot better than I am about making builds, so I look forward to seeing what kind of shenanigans my players get into!

  • XP progression system to earn more items and virtues for your loadouts as you progress through 100 levels! Not enough? Reincarnate!

  • 10 Reincarnation levels that reset your XP back to 1 to unlock new challenges and give you a steeper hill for which you can continue to push your boulder up

  • Separate Challenge system for unlocking cosmetics! Each cosmetic is tied to a specific challenge, so if you see someone with that elusive ‘Bingo God” title you might as well hover over that forfeit button and forget your win streak!

  • Fully customizable profiles! Customizable options include:

    • Portrait Photos

    • Portrait Frames

    • Scoring Particles

    • Space Skins (these ones are for the big shots!)

    • Title Badges

    • Panel Textures (for your item and card panels)

  • 2 new MP-only music tracks! A smooth lobby theme and a heart-pumping battle theme (this one is my personal favorite piece of music that I’ve ever created! I hope everyone likes it as much as I do!!)

  • 2 Different gameplay modes

    • Head to Head - Play a 1v1 quick match against another player, and duke it out for bingo supremacy! Do it to test a new loadout in casual or try to reach for the top in ranked matchmaking!

    • Tournament - 32 player casual tournaments, and 64 player ranked tournaments. In this mode you may steal passive items from your opponents loadouts as you continue through the rounds! Take that guy’s special you couldn't afford and create an even wackier loadout for emergent strategies! Beware though, ranked tournaments net you much greater rank rewards for champions, but losers are not seen as fondly.

  • Create custom lobbies for you and your friends!

    • Custom 1v1s or 4, 8, 16, 32, and 64 player tournaments.

    • Allows adding of bots for practice matches (or incase you all absolutely hate bingo brawl and it dies with no players LOL)

There is a separate, multiplayer overview posted Over here on this Steam announcement as well, which will go over everything you will want to know about Bingo Brawl’s rules and mechanics, or you can just give it a shot and experiment to see what you can find out for yourself!

The Forces of Heaven and Hell have been unleashed upon Bingo Betty and her fragile friends.

A strange and ominous presence fills the bingo hall... Fever mode isn’t safe anymore...

When entering 7-4 on fever 0, or round 4 on every stage in fever 1 or higher, you will encounter a Demon, who you must best in bingo single combat to advance into the next stage of the tournament to claim your win. Your draws will be converted to HP. Your score means nothing. You can only frantically make lines as fast as possible to kill them before they kill you. Once you get into FEVER 6 and higher, things will really start to go off the rails, because even the forces of heaven don’t seem too keen on Betty breaking out of her poverty stricken retirement, and will seek to prove your mettle in combat as well! FEVER 10 has 100% chance of angels on every stage, so only the truly mighty may see it through!

So Betty’s been trapped in the REAL underground this whole time? Damn, meet crazy. But that’s not all, The Seven Deadly Sins will now manifest as obstacles in your path to bingo greatness. Every space now has a chance at spawning in with a Sin. Each sin provides a challenge to overcome that will re-shape the way you complete every round! The likeliness of getting a Sin space starts out low, but as you progress through the 10 levels of FEVER, these spaces will start to overtake your card! You’ll have to be sharp on your emergent strategy if you want to overcome these obstacles!

  • Greed Spaces will take a dollar away from you every time you fill a space that isnt one of them!

  • Envy Spaces will steal balls that are higher value from other spaces!

  • Wrath spaces will take extra draws from you if left unfilled!

  • Pride spaces will only let you place basic balls in them!

  • Lust spaces make your lines that contain them score much less without a set, and make sets harder to achieve!

  • Gluttony spaces will eat your balls if they aren’t in a line!

  • Sloth spaces won’t activate blotter effects or special effects!

Don’t worry though, all those hard years Betty spent clutching her pearls and memorizing verses won't go to naught, as the seniors have awakened a strange new power that will shape the course of your runs!

These powers will charge over time as you score lines, but use them wisely, because they will take more and more bingo energy each time you decide to use them! Use it at the right moment to save you from certain defeat! Each character has a specific virtue that they will carry with them into the game, except for Lou, who will always have a random virtue at start.

  • Diligence swaps to your next card immediately, without requiring a blackout, and won’t take up a card use when it does! (more on that later)

  • Patience removes all placed balls from your active card!

  • Humility changes all of your drawn balls to special/effect balls!

  • Gratitude grants you +1 Draw for each passive item in the item panel!

  • Chastity grants +$1 for each locked space on your current active card!

  • Temperance will grant +25 to the lowest scoring spaces’ numbers ,and -25 to the highest scoring space’ numbers!

  • Charity Sells a random passive item or card queue card for 3x it’s sale value!

Other gameplay additions/ changes to singleplayer:

Many players were able to achieve some pretty sick nasty cheap wins by abusing lock spaces, and I couldn't be more proud. As a personal token of my thanks, I have made some very nice balance changes that will improve the overall health of the game! We hope you enjoy your eternal stay here in bingo hell! Also, there is a litany of small features added to make the overall singleplayer experience more enjoyable!

  • Permalock and Permafree blotters will no longer be found in the game.

  • Lock balls have been removed from the game.

  • Cards now have a limited number of “Uses” before they break. This is listed on the card when they are in the queue, but it won’t tell you how close it is to breaking when it’s active, so beware!

  • Added a post-game unlock summary, to show you the things you may have unlocked during your runs

  • Special Balls now have special animations that play when you activate them, that is specific to each special ball type!

  • Blotters now play an animation when they are applied to spaces, and when they activate their effects on a space!

  • The tutorial has been updated to be harder to skip during the “play the rest of the round” section to prevent players from missing the shop tutorial

  • 2 New Playable characters, James Porter and Lucky Lou! You can unlock these two by completing the game on FEVER 1 and FEVER 5 with any character.

    • Lucky Lou has FULLY RANDOM item, card, and virtue starts, providing the most chaotic experience possible!

Other Game-Wide Changes / Additions

  • Added Hotkeys to make playing the game a little quicker

    • The “d” key will press the draw button. This will also work in menus!

    • 1-0 keys on the keyboard will select balls in the draw cache

    • The “h” Key will place a ball in the hold slot. This also works for multiplayer, to hold balls you can't select yet!

  • Spiced up the Single player gameplay music with a fresh new version with new instruments and a much better sounding arrangement of the original track! There are also 3 entirely NEW songs you can look forward to hearing in your Single player runs as well!

  • Updated a couple of the buttons in the options menu to be a little more clear on exactly what they do. “Labeled Panels” Will place a text label on your item and card panels, as well as highlight your next card. “Ball / Space tooltips” will add a hoverbox containing information about balls and spaces. These are togglable for the seasoned bingo betty enjoyers who want a little less visual clutter.

  • Added many new sound effects, and changed the horrendously obnoxious shop-purchasing sound

Demo 4.0 - Demo Content update

This new version of the Demo contains all the lovely updates you see in the rest of this monolithic patch note post, albeit in a lite form. You still are unable to earn achievements or unlock new items/characters in the demo, however I have updated the demo to allow saving and loading of your in-progress runs! Also, the available characters in the demo have been changed to Betty, Walter, and Susan.

Demo 4.0 also includes a small taste of multiplayer for everyone who wants to give it a shot! Demo players will have access to all 5 default loadouts in the game, but not be able to earn XP, edit your loadouts, or rank up. Hopefully some are eager enough to immediately ask for those to be added into the demo, but for now you can look forward to having something to do in the full version of the game! If enough people get interested, I may reconsider and allow SOME progression in the demo, we’ll see how it plays out!

Bugfixes

  • Fixed a strange bug on the demo for mac that was breaking the game entirely by having spaces showing as filled blue “15555”. To any of my Mac users I'd like to seriously and sincerely apologize for leaving it in such a state for so long, but I have taken extra care this time around to ensure that the game will run on all platforms smoothly and continues to do so going forward!

  • Fixed an issue that allowed players to place blotters on cards as they were rolling out

  • Fixed an issue that caused the free blotter menu to get stuck while opening and closing

  • Fixed a whole bunch of other minor and annoying things around the game, like typos in various item descriptions and the tutorial. (RIP “ready fo’ put”)

There will very likely be a lot of other entirely new bugs in this patch. I know, I know, 3 months of radio silence and it’s not perfect but there are some things i just can’t obsessively test by myself, so I’m counting on YOU, the players, to break the game wide open and let me know exactly what i need to laboriously pore over to fix!

Closed Beta Opportunities?

I am looking into ways and opportunities to get the closed beta into the hands of as many more people as possible. Right now I just want to make sure that the game will actually be worth the 14.99$ that I intend to charge for the full game on release, and I work a full time job, so time is limited and it’s hard to be everywhere on the internet all at once, yet I persist!. Reach out to your favorite streamer / content creator and let them know about the game! Tell your friends! I’ve been known to hand out random keys for almost no reason so hey, maybe you’ll get a shot! Show me what you got! (Especially if you want to send me some gameplay footage! Bonus points to whoever can provide me the most footage with SFX turned on and music turned off! Hint Hint)

What’s next for Betty?

I’ll still keep my eyes out as best I can but I am only one guy and now that this update is out it's time to try and get into spamming marketing and social media mode! Hopefully I can get the word out to enough people so matchmaking lobbies aren't entirely dead! I’d like to do some sort of events in the future, art contests, build contests, content creator tournaments and events, you name it! Let me know what you all would be interested in seeing from the game!

Till next time, Eli
