Repeated intro
Hello everyone! Long Foreseen here. We haven't published devlogs before, but I felt like it was time to start, at least in blog form(?). For some reason, we've been keeping this fact under wraps, but we're almost done with porting Beneath the Cardboard: Be Happy to Godot Engine 4.

Beneath the Cardboard: Be Happy changes
As you may know, the game was previously based on Unreal Engine 5, but along the way we encountered numerous bugs, performance issues, and a subjective dislike of the engine's design. It all boiled down to the fact that a port was necessary. Our first step was to start working on our own game engine, Forthfour, which turned out to be a critical mistake: we didn't have the necessary resources or time for it. This might have been a good decision if we had been an established studio, but it turned out to be nothing more than naive perfectionism. We left players without updates for a long time, and we take full responsibility for that.
Ultimately, we started working with Godot, which, compared to the decision to create our own engine, was the best decision in the game's history and ended the period of stagnation into which I, the team's lead programmer, essentially forced the game and the community. I apologize, as I was the one who pushed for this decision in the first place.
But enough about the bad news: the False Promises update should live up to our and your expectations. In addition to numerous gameplay and technical improvements, we are planning to release the content planned for the Forgotten Dreams part 2 update, which was delayed due to the aforementioned reasons. We plan to soon publish the first playable builds of False Promises for our sponsors and "Lunsemo Heroes" on our Discord server in order to catch any critical bugs. Later, if everything goes well, we'll finally release the update, and if not, we'll publish it to the public testing channel.
This devlog is an attempt to engage more deeply with the community, so to speak, "lifting the veil" on the development process. We're truly Happy to have you with us, and you're the reason we're able to continue development.
Lunsemo Studio.
