Battle Hanafuda changes
In this update, Hana Klo has been divided into three play modes: Assist, Standard, and Expert.
| Mode | Description |
|---|---|
| Assist | Highlights all valid destinations for the card under your cursor. |
| Standard | The original gameplay mode. |
| Expert | Hides the month number (1–12) and card value (1 / 5 / 10 / 20) shown in the upper-left corner of each card. |
Assist Mode
Highlights all valid destinations for the card currently under your cursor.
This makes it easy to see both which cards can be moved and where they can be moved, allowing beginners to learn the rules more intuitively.
Expert Mode
Designed for advanced players who have completely memorized every card's month and point value.
Once you become comfortable with this mode, you'll also find it much easier to enjoy Hana Klo using a real Hanafuda deck.
Coming Soon
This feature is not implemented yet, but I'm considering adding a long-term progression system that rewards repeated play.
One idea is to introduce a rank system (from Beginner to Master) based on multiple long-term achievements, such as total play time, total clears in each mode, best completion time, fewest moves, and experience earned by completing Yaku.
From my own years of playing Klondike, I've come to believe that its greatest appeal isn't simply playing faster—it's the deeper enjoyment that comes from playing again and again.
Hana Klo currently includes a Time Attack leaderboard, but chasing faster times depends not only on player skill, but also heavily on the luck of the initial deal. I don't want the game to revolve around speed alone.
Some deals can be surprisingly difficult.
I also want Hana Klo to reward the satisfaction of taking your time, solving those challenging layouts, and steadily improving as a player.
During the Early Access period, I'd like to continue improving the game based on your feedback.
If you have any suggestions or ideas, I'd love to hear them in the Community Hub or in a Steam review!
