Batomon Showdown changes
This update adds the Shopkeeper trainer! Shopkeeper will have rarer items in the shop.
There are also a bunch of new items add to the shop!
There is also a new mythical Batomon! It makes mythical items appear in the shop and buffs your allies as you use more mythical items.
Controller Support
The game now has full controller support! You can now comfortably play Batomon Showdown from your Steam Deck.
Quality of Life Changes
Optimized some connection issues. Players should be getting less "connection failed" popups.
Added the "batopedia", "settings", and "quit to menu" buttons to the event phase.
Added a label on the item shop slot that shows how many more item uses you have left.
Reduced damage number size scaling to improve late game battle visibility.
A ton of changes to descriptions to make wording more consistent.
Long usernames now automatically shrink to fit better during the battle intro animation.
If a monster has more than 4 stats, the stat labels under the monster sprites now stack upwards instead of only keeping the highest 3.
Balance Changes
TRINKETS
Shady Contract
At higher ranks, staying at lower shop ranks and farming buffs onto bugs was a very powerful strategy. I think being able to easily stay at low shop ranks forever is not a very fun or healthy way to play the game. So, I'm deciding to remove this trinket entirely
REMOVED
Fancy Sword
There currently is too much trinket support for fast casting Batomon and not enough for slow big hitters. So reworking this one to support the later better.
Reworked to give +3% damage per trinket
Mini Duplicator, Mega Duplicator, Ultra Duplicator
Currently, these trinket duplicate trinkets gotten from any source. However, some interactions such as doubling the Mysterious Mask gotten from Masked Man has repeatedly been reported as a bug, so it seems unintuitive. Also, having your duplicator used up by something like Wishwash's ability is also not as satisfying as having it trigger on a trinket you actually get to select.
Wording and effect changed to specify that it only works on trinkets gotten from trinket gifts.
TRAINERS
Swim Coach
Currently, the power of water Batomon are too tied to Swim Coach. I think this warrants a rework so that water Batomon could have room to be buffed in the future. However, Swim Coach is one of the 3 trainers offered to new players on their first game, so the ability must remain simple to play around.
Ability reworked to: Gain a random Water Batomon each day. (Depends on your shop odds)
ITEMS
Focus Pill
No ability teams seem to be very dominant at higher ranks. Focus Pill seems the be the most out of line support for the no ability teams.
Cooldown Speed buff: 25% -> 15%
BATOMON
Torrantler
Out of all the water Batomon, this probably warrants a buff the most. I'm going to wait and see on all the other water Batomon to see if a buff is warranted after the Swim Coach rework.
Cooldown 10 seconds -> 8 seconds
Bambudo
Ever since mid-game base HP was reduced, on cast scaler indirectly got much worse. So Bambudo is getting a buff to compensate.
Damage buff on cast: 25 -> 35
Prismagon
Same rationale as above.
Damage buff on cast per type: 5/10/15 -> 10/20/30
Noxalith
Noxalith was underperforming and was rarely picked up, even in poison teams.
Poison buff on cast: 2/4/6 -> 3/6/9
Magmalith
This seems to be overperforming by a huge margin. Also, all of the suitable recipients of it's buff are also overperforming (Lignite, Blazewing, Blixie).
Cooldown 8 seconds -> 10 seconds
Thorntail
Thorntail is underperforming by a huge margin.
Damage buff per poison inflicted: 4/8/12 -> 6/12/18
Geminiss
Rock teams generally struggle for most of the game until finding Geminiss. I'm going to give this a pretty hefty nerf so there is more room to buff the mid game rock Batomon.
Shield buff on cast: 70/140/210% -> 50/100/150%
Aegistruct
Cooldown 8 seconds -> 7 seconds
Stalagrove
Damage gain from shield: 10/20/30% -> 15/30/45%
Coalem
Shield 400/800/1200 -> 450/900/1350
Wishwash
Wishwash is slightly underperforming. I'm giving it some extra sell value so you get a little bump late game when you want to get rid of it. Also giving it a bit more combat power, so you lose less lives for farming trinkets with it.
Sell value $0 -> $20
Heal 100/200/300 -> 150/300/450
Reapra
Reapra is getting played very often in higher ranks and has a very high win rate. I'm giving it a slight nerf for now, but still going to keep an eye on this in the future.
Cooldown 6/3/2 seconds -> 7.5/3.7/2.5 seconds
Galvanine
Seems to be slightly underpeforming.
Cooldown 8 seconds -> 7 seconds
Pyronade
It's the least popular uncommon Batomon, since it seems players prefer to pick scaling Batomon rather than Batomon that gives immediate combat power. However it seems to be the best uncommon Batomon by a decent margin.
Burn 20/40/60 -> 18/36/54
Bugfixes
Fixed a visual bug with shiny Gildshell where it's damage stat label was not updating to its current damage until it casts. Also changed its ability to calculate damage based on total sell value rather than just bonus sell value.
Fixed a visual bug where the damage number from status effects was not showing the post-mitigated damage from shield's status damage reduction.
Fixed a bug with Berroon, where it would not give and extra item use if it was transformed into it from a different Batomon.
Fixed a rare issue where if you selected a trinket too quickly on the trinket gift select menu, it would cause the game to get stuck.
Fixed a bug where the shop odds UI does not immediately update after you pick up the VIP Pass trinket.
