Backrooms: Realm of Shadows changes
New Content
Added a new Sub-Layer level, accessible through the Electrical Station
Introduced a new Easter Egg level to: “A GHOST?”
Added a brand-new Sub-Layer featuring tight corridors, distorted lighting, and environmental storytelling accessible through Level 0
Reworked several areas of Level 0 to improve flow, pacing, and player navigation
Added new environmental props and subtle visual cues to guide exploration
Lighting & Atmosphere Overhaul
Completely reworked lighting in Sub-Layer Level 0.3
Reduced overexposed areas and harsh contrast for better visibility
Improved shadow softness and light falloff
Added subtle flickering and dynamic lighting effects to enhance immersion
Menu & UI Revamp
Full redesign of the Pause Menu for faster access to key options
Introduced a modernized UI layout with improved readability and consistency
Improved spacing, alignment, and animation timing across menus
Faster transitions between submenus
Updated button highlights and hover feedback
Additional Improvements
Enhanced controller and keyboard navigation support
Improved background blur and audio dampening while paused
Reworked settings layout for quicker access to graphics, audio, and gameplay options

Added several new menu music tracks
Menu tracks now play randomly for more variety
Balance Changes
Reduced sprint stamina drain by 10%
Improved crouch movement responsiveness
Adjusted enemy detection ranges to reduce unfair encounters
Bug Fixes
Fixed an issue where players could clip through walls at certain angles
Fixed enemies getting stuck in doorframes or looping corridors
Fixed player getting stuck in crouch state after interacting with objects
Improved level transitions to resolve a FATAL ERROR issue
General Improvements
Added visual clarity improvements across multiple areas
Improved overall controller navigation experience
Various minor fixes and polish for a smoother gameplay experience
Known Issues
On some systems, graphics settings may reset or change after a level transition. We are actively investigating this issue and working on a fix as quickly as possible.
