Backrooms: Realm of Shadows changes
Winter Nights Event
Winter Nights Event is now live! Explore the Backrooms transformed by a cold, eerie atmosphere.
A brand-new Winter Lobby is available for the duration of the event.
Added Winter Lobby Menu Music designed specifically for this season.
Winter Crystals (Winter Energy) now spawn in Level 0 and the Icy Rooms.
Collect 65 Winter Crystals to unlock a Secret Ending, redeemable in the Event Dashboard.
Engine & Performance
Added Shader Compiling before game launch to reduce stuttering and improve overall performance.
Improved engine stability and reduced memory spikes.
Enhanced lighting optimization and reflection handling.
Faster load transitions between certain rooms and levels.
Bug Fixes
Fixed entity audio occasionally stopping after transitioning between rooms.
Fixed flickering light sources in Level 0 on lower graphics presets.
Fixed collision issues and floating geometry in Icy Rooms.
Fixed delayed footstep audio on certain surfaces.
Resolved UI scaling issues with different resolutions and ultra-wide monitors.
Adjusted ambient audio layering to reduce abrupt volume changes.
Fixed incorrect spawn points after checkpoint reloads.
Patched visual artifacts on reflective surfaces.
General stability improvements and minor visual fixes across multiple levels.
From Private Test Build to Live
Before releasing Winter Nights publicly, the event went through a limited Private Test Build phase with our Game Tester community. Thanks to their reports and feedback, several improvements and refinements have been made before going live:
Improved Winter Crystal spawn locations to prevent edge-cases where they spawned too close to walls.
Adjusted ambience and lighting in the Winter Lobby based on tester feedback for better mood and performance.
Fixed additional Icy Room collisions discovered during the test phase.
Refined Winter Lobby menu music transitions to prevent audio clipping.
Improved clarity of energy tracking inside the Event Dashboard.
Fixed several minor UI issues that testers spotted during event preview.
Additional optimizations and balance tweaks informed by tester gameplay sessions.
Decreased the Number of Winter Crystals that spawn in Level 0
Decreased the required Amount of Winter Crystals to 65 (was 100)

Known Issues
Shader compiling may still take longer during the first startup (normal behavior).
Fatal Error may occure when loading new Levels (still under investigation)
