Attack of the Astrals changes
We’re excited to announce that we’ve opened up the first public playtest of Attack of the Astrals to all players! It’s available on all PC platforms: Windows, macOS, Linux, and Steam Deck.
In the closed playtest, we've received valuable feedback playing and chatting with many of you, with 100+ runs played in the last days of January - thank you! We now feel confident that it's playable for a wider audience to check out.
Scope of the Playtest
This is a small slice of the game intended to validate gameplay, usability, stability, and fun. We've tested on all platforms, but bugs are to be expected. Please use the form in-game or post on our community forums if you have any bugs or have any questions or feedback! We'll be prioritizing the community response to this playtest in our roadmap.
The full release will have more content, more variety, and much more polish. Our goal with this first playtest is to set up for a future demo release on Steam, so the content available is limited. Speaking of content...
Available Content
6 Champions divided among 3 roles. Each Champion has a unique skill.
6 Summons, each with 6 skills. Summons provide powerful alternate skills as a reward for liberating a region of the realm. Your starting Champion is already attuned to a Summon each run.
13 Spells. Spells are map-wide consumables with a variety of capabilities. As long as you have a slot free, you’ll receive a new Spell at the end of each battle.
3 regions, each with unique aesthetics and mechanics. Liberating a region from Astral influence grants you a new Summon skill, but it also adds the region’s unique Minion to all fights for the rest of the run.
Future Plans
We'll be working hard on addressing feedback found during the playtest in February, alongside continued content development. We have 6 more Champions planned, several additional regions, and many more enemies and spells to give you more tactical combat puzzles to solve and more mechanics to play around.
This first playtest does not have a difficulty system or meta-progression, both of which will be included in the final release. We think you'll enjoy this subset of content and hope to leave you wanting to unlock more of everything!
