Astro Colony changes
It's time for another big quality update that I've been preparing for you for the last 2 weeks and ended up publishing at 4am :) There are plenty of new changes, so let's dive in!
Endless crafting
Yes, the crafting not being interrupted is BACK! By default, as long as the device has enough resources to craft or resources to mine/pick, it will operate!
It's now fully up to you how you control the flow. It is possible to limit both inputs and outputs. They will be respected and crafting - power consumption will be reduced if the limit is reached. Steam post image
Inputs of crafting devices are still limited by stack sizes, so use new devices and bigger storages wisely!
Controlling overflow
To better control automation resources flow, now it's possible to use Incinerator to remove them from the game or inventory Trash Bin 🗑️
New interaction & switching axes
When starting to drag, the game detects if it's a floor or wall surface and suggests a mode. This way, placing something directly on the wall is no longer a problem.
Default placement can be switched by pressing F, so even if you start selecting a conveyor belt, you can select a horizontal grid or place multiple lines of conveyor belts at once!
Here, water pipes create a horizontal grid.
Steam post imageFloor is no longer blocking, so there is no need to navigate around it.
It is now super easy to select foundation right under the floor.
Balance & recipes
When designing new recipes, I tried to better balance the use of individual resources.
Steam post imageAbove all, it was necessary to reduce the consumption of ice, and secondly of copper.
Next, it was important to increase the use of iron. A new resource was born—a ROTOR that uses iron and uranium.
The availability of glass, quartz, and stone has also been adjusted.
stone consumes only 20 water (instead of 50) and requires 6 units of earth
quartz requires 10 Earth (instead of 20)
In addition to making the mining of quartz/stone accessible, depth of drills was increased:
to -12 from -8 for giant drill
-8 from -5 regular drill
Double glass means double tuuuuuuuubes 🧪
French localization corrected
One of our Discord community member helped with correcting French localization. Thanks to Jericho, the localization should be spot on. Same as native Italian and Polish.
Improvements & fixes
Selection and construction axes can now be changed when dragging
Floor edges are now visible in Blueprints
Recipes, mine resources, farm plants, barn creatures are now showing technologies to unlock and allowing navigation to them
Resources stacks doubled
Storages and warehouses have 6 more slots when starting
Multiplayer - fixed issue with batch loading recycling machine and kitchen - preventing from crash
Batteries charging / discharging glitch fixed
Precise pipe / cables mid-air selection thanks to new camera rotation
Each recipe or missing resource/plant/animal can now be navigated into tech tree related technology
Advanced scanning is no longer freezing the result when moving to the next planet
Opening and closing the radial menu is no longer affecting the creature collector effect
Tech tree can no longer freeze universe arrow
Harvested storm gives 10x more electricity
Bucket tool vertical (wall) can now be rotated when dragging
Radar recipes last longer
Diamond markers for resources appear only in the resource screen
Fixed an issue where in-game encyclopedia would show 2 technologies when jumping from one item to another
