Astra Ignota changes
This next update is taking longer than usual so I thought I'd put word out there of what I'm working on.
These are the main things, besides the usual minor fixes.
A shiny new RANGE INDICATOR
Right-click on a core and it shows it's maximum range, this is, how long it can be extended, either SAFELY or UNSAFELY:
The safe range shows how far you can currently extend the core without breaking other galaxies. The unsafe range shows the maximum extension, trampling over all other galaxies. Tiles that require breaking other galaxies are shown in red.
The RANGE FILLER
When showing the range, press a key to fill it safely. Press again to fill unsafely. Pretty destructive, but don't worry, the UNDO key is still working.
With this option, clearing smaller levels is an absolute breeze! And the big ones can be completed in weeks instead of months! :D
TUTORIALS
Unfortunately the range indicator can be a bit hard to grasp at first, so it needs a tutorial, and while doing tutorials, why not do them properly for all other features?
I noticed the essential mechanics of the game are unclear to some players, so let's help them a bit:
Don't worry, you can always skip the tutorials or summon them later :)
UNLOCKABLE FEATURES
So many features are going to be daunting, so let's space them a bit, and allow players to grasp the basic concepts before jumping to the more advanced ones.
Each finished episode unlocks a new feature (drag mode, range indicator, range filler, the editor...), giving the game more feeling of progression, which is nice.
