DEMO Update News – Skill-Up! Patch (Steam Next Fest Special)
Just in time for the Steam Next Fest, I’ve released a major update that brings in a ton of new features, gameplay adjustments, and performance improvements. This patch focuses on depth, variety, and smoother pacing – all wrapped in a more polished experience.
Let’s dive into what’s new!
New: Skill & Perk System
I’ve introduced a brand-new Skill & Perk System that adds dynamic choices to every run. Certain enemies and events now drop blue experience orbs. Picking one up lets you choose from three random perks to power up your character in meaningful ways.
You can now customize your gameplay on the fly – whether you want more loot, faster collection, or something more tactical.
A few example perks:
More frequent airdrops
Increased pickup radius
More targeted airdrop categories
A dedicated skill menu has been added as well, so you can always track what’s boosting your run. This system will continue to grow with future updates.
New Airdrop Types
The airdrop system now includes three distinct drop types:
Standard (mixed items)
Weapon-only drops
Building-only drops
Each one is visually distinct and gives you more control over your strategy as the game progresses.
Also, the airdrop reward menu has received a slight visual upgrade to match the rest of the UI improvements.
Weapon & Mod Overhaul
Weapons now include:
A critical hit chance that factors into damage
A min and max damage range for more dynamic combat
I also:
Updated the mod icons for clarity
Added a new mod: Lightning – go test it out!
Improved Money & Drop System
The multikill counter now directly affects how much money is dropped
Coins now come in different colors based on value
Coins will pile up over time instead of spawning one by one – this helps performance
Visuals for coin stacks have been added
Ammo and coin drops are now easier to spot in the environment
Fixed a minor performance issue tied to coin generation
Sound Improvements
The walking sound has been toned down and randomized to reduce repetition
Munitions casings now make a distinct sound when they hit the ground
Overall audio has been tweaked to better support the game’s pacing and feedback
Faster Game Progression
Time moves faster now. Days progress more quickly to:
Improve pacing
Add more pressure
Reduce unnecessary downtime
This change is experimental, so I’d love your feedback. The idea is to keep you engaged with more action, less waiting.
New Event Added
A mysterious new event has been introduced… and let’s just say, enemies aren’t the only thing falling from the sky anymore. What exactly is going on? You’ll have to jump in and find out.
Bug Fixes & Other Tweaks
Fixed a bug where the enemy spawner wouldn’t reset after restarting the game
General performance improvements and visual updates across the board
That’s It for Now!
Thanks for checking out this update – I hope you enjoy exploring the new systems during the Steam Next Fest. This is just the beginning, and I can’t wait to share even more in the coming weeks.
As always, feedback is welcome. Let me know what works, what doesn’t, and what you’d like to see next!
