Japanese Localisation:

Ascending Inferno is now fully playable in Japanese! Special thanks to PINION and Rié Ihara for localising the game and bringing Ascending Inferno to the Japanese market! To our Japanese Players: We hope you enjoy the game, and maybe one of you will be able to finally dethrone Stepogear for the fastest speed-runner!

Level Redesigns:

Every level in Ascending Inferno has received some sort of tweak or redesign. As these changes range in size, here’s a few ones we wanted to highlight:

  • Extended Tutorial

  • Limbo Throne Room

  • Bottom of Greed

  • Right Path of Heresy

And many more changes!

Optimisation:

Oh, lordy he optimising…

There have been so many optimisation changes, we honestly lost count. But the end result is simple: A smoother and more frame filled experience for you as you ascend through Inferno.

UI Overhaul

All of the UI in Ascending Inferno has been overhauled and redesigned from the ground up. It not only has a ton of visual flair now, but should also be more intuitive and function better for both keyboard and controller. Here’s a few screenshots:

OST Bonus Tracks:

Dan Poole you mad man…

Our amazing composer Dan added 15 new tracks to our OST available on steam. This brings the total song count to 26!!! The added tracks are for all the cut-scene music and features both the With SFX and Music Only versions. If you want to support Dan Poole directly, all sales of Ascending Inferno’s OST on steam goes directly to him. It’s now currently on sale to celebrate the launch of our 1.5 update and is available here:

QOL (The Juice):

Who spilled all this Gyatt damn juice?!?

The game has been juiced up in so many places! This should make your playthrough of Ascending Inferno feel more satisfying (from a game feel perspective). The juices changes include but are not limited to:

  • New SFX for moving Vincent around.

  • New animations for when you interact with checkpoints.

  • Checkpoints have also had a VFX overhaul to be clearer for when they are and aren’t activated.

We’re honestly super pumped about this point as holistically it all just made inferno nicer and a bit more tolerable to climb 😊

Multiple Bug Fixes:

Just like our optimization changes, we did so many bug fixes that we genuinely lost count. Some of the big main ones are:

  • All achievements are now earnable (oops).

  • All the training grounds are now completable.

  • Dani no longer teleports herself out of the limbo secret room if on checkpoint mode (that’s not how you’re meant to escape).

  • And way way more (bro you gotta believe me).

Ultrawide support?

  • The game now supports ultrawide monitors! (Maybe?). Honestly we’re a bit psychotic and decided it would be a good idea to add this to the patch 1 hour before it went live (we are still working on it right now as I type these patch notes). So please let us know if it’s Jank and we’ll hotfix it!

Monthly Game Modes?

A new option exists on the main menu called “Challenges”, it is here that you’ll be able to access our new Monthly Challenges!

This however is currently inaccessible as we still wanted to polish up our first one. We promise it’ll be out soon, and we’ll do an announcement for it so keep your eyes peeled!

I will give you a teaser as a reward for reading this far… The first monthly challenge is called “Hot Potato”.

Thank you!

Honestly and sincerely, thank you all for playing our silly little ball rage game. It honestly means the world to us here. Seeing your reviews on our steam page is so heart-warming and makes all the late nights of deving worth it.

We hope you enjoy this new update, and stick around to see what else we are cooking! 😊

(ignore how dead we look here, we are used to it :) )
