Ascenders: Beyond the Peak changes
The veil has been lifted: the official Steam Demo for Ascenders: Beyond the Peak is live right now.
Secure your gear, and step into the freezing dark. The mountain calls.
This demo gives you a first taste of our tactical exploration roguelite where your greatest enemy isn't just the wildlife, it's the mountain itself. It introduces three distinct playable classes, allowing you to mix and match your team comp freely (yes, you can even run a triple-sapper squad if you like explosives!):
The Scout: Unmatched vertical mobility. Utilizing a Grappling Hook to zip to any free block in range and an Adrenaline Boost to instantly refill movement, their Light Pick passive guarantees they don't waste actions while gathering.
The Highlander: Your unstoppable anchor. Armed with a Heavy Pick that can destroy blocks entirely, they use a Weighted Harness to drop down and shatter terrain, and a trusty Flask for a one-use stamina recovery.
The Sapper: Tactical terraforming. Equipped with Grenades and detonator-triggered Dynamite, the Sapper can blast through fog of war, knock back enemies, drain stamina, and crack the very face of the rock.
An unending challenge
The moment you start climbing, every turn transforms into a game of survival. You must carefully manage your stamina, positioning, and resources while navigating vertical terrain that reacts dynamically to your presence.
In Ascenders: Beyond the Peak the environment is actively working against you. Beside irritating Insects, Spiders, Rats and the elite Condor, you will have to watch out for Icy Patches, Cold Mushrooms, and Ice Stalactites that cascade down if shaken. To top it all off, a rolling Blizzard can arrive at any moment, freezing your movement and draining your stamina.
Respite must be earned
Between each challenging stage of your ascent, you’ll need to set up camp to manage your expedition's physical and mental toll. The camp atmosphere builds dynamically as you activate multiple temporary stations, forcing you to make painful compromises.
Tent & Cooking Pot: Manage the survival of your climbers
Infirmary: Heal physical injuries at a cost.
Tanning Rack & Farming Station: Trade night rest for extra resources
Workbench: Craft game-changing bonuses for the next leg of the journey.
Most Importantly: The Roster Remembers
Death is permanent, but surviving a bad run carries its own costs. Our climbers aren't just empty loadout slots; they are people with distinct backstories and behavioral traits that drastically change how they play.
Push them too hard, and they may return to HQ Traumatized, refusing to go back out or leaving your agency entirely.

Power Has a Price: The Artifacts
For those brave enough to seek them out by defeating the terrifying Corrupted Queen Spider or uncovering rare events, strange artifacts await on the peaks. These items grant incredible, paradigm-shifting abilities, such as gaining the Ethereal status to ignore physical damage, or the mystical ability to walk directly over open holes.
But beware, carrying a corrupted artifact risks inflicting your characters with permanent, negative attributes. How much is your climber's sanity worth?

There is so much more ahead of you, just a few extra steps...
The mountain is waiting.
