What’s up friends?

It’s Leon from Technical Fiction. I am the engineer and designer who built 90% of Alter Evo. I also collaborated with a handful of very cool people for the art, sound, voice acting, and animation aspects of the game.

A little bit about me - I worked in the game industry for 10 years and shipped 5 games for various employers before I became a full time indie dev in 2023. I had a strong background in film-making and music before I committed myself to game development in my early twenties. I built my first games in middle school using a game engine called Klik n Play.

My favorite artists are David Lynch, Franz Kafka, and Takayoshi Sato, the character designer for Silent Hill 2. When I make games I always start out with programming and level design. I never know what the story is until after I’m prototyping the game. I focus on interesting interactions I can create in a level and base my game around that. I like weird and mesmerizing things. I want to combine emotional extremes to make something fascinating.

When someone laughs while playing one of my games - I know they understand it. My goal is to make people laugh even though the subject matter can be dark. I also occasionally want people to say “woah.”

Video games are a portal into other worlds - I want to create something so strange and unfamiliar that you can only find it here - and somehow it still feels like your own.

Upcoming Events

In the next couple weeks we will be launching a Steam page for a fashion inspired anomaly horror game centered around our character Amelia Jalisco (AJ). This project has been a driven by our new game designer who joined Technical Fiction back in February. After several months of prototyping we finally have a clear vision and are excited to share it with you. This will be our first project in Unreal Engine.

Alter Evo Patch v.13

We have just uploaded a new patch that fixed an error where you can fall through the floor in the intro level discovered by an awesome YouTuber named Dalkiel. You can see his play through of the game here:
