With the upcoming Hospital Update 0.11, we are expanding the battle phase with additional objectives and opportunities, with the aim of putting more emphasis on what happens after the actual battle.

New possibilities in battle

It was already possible to treat wounded soldiers or take prisoners during battle. We have expanded these systems and added new side objectives:

  • Collecting food supplies: When searching the areas, you can now find supplies that will directly increase the provisions in camp as soon as you return

  • Collecting materials: You can also find spare parts, tools and other materials that will slightly increase the Logistics Officer's stock and boost his trust

  • Treating wounded: Treating the wounded slightly reduces the workload at the hospital and increases the trust of Nurse Elisabeth and, under certain circumstances, Laroche, if you also help the French soldiers

  • Taking prisoners: Bringing back prisoners increases your reputation with your superiors

  • Collecting dog tags from the fallen: This also increases your reputation

These options are now unlocked gradually as the war progresses. For example, escorting prisoners is not possible from the start, but is introduced early in the game. Collecting dog tags is introduced towards the end of 1916, coinciding with the introduction of detachable dog tags.

Of course, we also check whether certain opportunities are being missed. If you do not bring the lieutenant any dog tags over a longer period of time or refuse to help the wounded even though it would have been possible, this can also have negative consequences.

The aftermath of battle

After winning a battle, the phase until returning to camp is now extended. Once enemy soldiers retreat, there are more than 10 turns left to help the people, capture them or loot the battlefield. The time period is now clearly displayed. In addition, all troops are tasked with driving enemy soldiers out of the trenches before the phase is completed.

Steam post image The ‘Back to camp’ display indicates how many turns remain before returning to camp.

Revision of loot spots

The system for searching areas has also been revised:

  • All previous loot spots have been revised so that food or materials can also be found in certain locations

  • Approximately 60 new spots have been created, doubling the total number

  • The positions are randomised in each battle

  • Corresponding reference objects on the map (crates, backpacks, etc.) have been assigned to the individual spots

Steam post image If there is no equipment to be found, the objects will not be displayed on the map either.
