Alchemy Survivors has a brand new Co-op mode which lets up to 4 players queue in together and survive the hordes as a team! We've also worked on a ton of performance improvements for this update to make sure the game is nice and smooth for you and all of your friends.

New Mode: Co-op Multiplayer

  • Up to 4 players can join a game together. Simply host a Co-op game and your Steam friends will be able to join from the Co-op menu as long as you're in the pre-game lobby.

  • Choose from your own unlocked characters and locations, even if your friends haven't unlocked them yet.

  • All players share XP and level up together, but have their own choices to make each time they level up.

  • Gold and essence are also shared among the team; be sure to tell your friends not to blow all your valuable essence gambling for epic upgrades at the Hellforge!

  • When any player dies, a teammate can revive them by standing near them for long enough; just don't die yourself!

New Character Abilities

  • Cap - Pirate's Booty: Heal 20 HP every time you pick up a gold coin.

  • Firebat - Stim Pack: Every 15 seconds, sacrifice 10% of your current HP to gain 40% attack speed and +30% move speed.

  • Harle - Luna's Blessing: Gain up to +50% damage as the level gets darker; or gain up to +35% move speed as the level gets brighter.

Character Changes

  • Grog is now unlocked by destroying 5 Feast Tables, rather than 50.

  • Nez is now unlocked by surviving 10 minutes with Basil, rather than 20.

  • Shrap is now unlocked by surviving 10 minutes with Sarge, rather than 20.

  • Tellah is now unlocked by surviving 10 minutes with Tara, rather than 20.

  • Jekyll is now unlocked by surviving 10 minutes in The Lab, rather than 15.

  • Zahra is now unlocked by surviving 10 minutes in Shahaz Desert, rather than 20.

  • Saffi is now unlocked by surviving 15 minutes in Witchwater, rather than 20.

  • Vael is now unlocked by surviving 15 minutes in Pandemonium, rather than 20.

  • Increased Sarge's starting HP from 50 to 80.

  • Increased Epoch's starting Armor from 2 to 5.

Location Changes

  • Significantly increased the number of Trees that spawn in the Forest level.

  • Trees now take 2x damage from all Fire-element damage.

Enemy Changes

  • Reduced Dark Wizard projectile speeds by 50% and reduced damage by 50%.

Performance Improvements

  • The game now detects if it's launched from a Steam Deck and sets default settings accordingly: 60 FPS cap, VSync on, and slightly reduced render scale.

  • Enemy population is now capped to 400 active enemies at a time -- more than enough to fill your screen. Summons from bosses can exceed this limit.

  • HDR rendering has been turned off (it wasn't being used and cost extra GPU bandwidth).

  • Under extreme load the game may momentarily play in slight slow-motion rather than freezing or turning into a slideshow.

  • Tons of other high-value performance optimizations under the hood that are probably too technical to get into here... but if you're interested, let us know on Discord and we could do some deep dive blog posts!

Settings Changes

  • Added a new "Render Scale" display setting: renders the game a little below screen resolution and upscales it, for a large performance gain on handhelds and weaker GPUs.

  • Added a new "Effects Density" display setting (Low / Medium / Full): controls how many layers are drawn for heavier visual effects (poison clouds, beams, pickup glows).

Bugfixes

  • Fixed a memory leak on Stormwake that caused framerates to steadily degrade the longer you played.

  • Fixed a bug that resulted in hidden chests sometimes being empty when you opened them at low levels.
