… allow me to draw your attention to the fact that the monks of the Akatori Monastery possess an exceptionally high resistance to the effects of amber.

We shall not entertain absurd suppositions regarding Akatori's patronage. The so-called "god" has not been seen by anyone for many years, which permits us to conclude that all this "divinity" was nothing more than a mystification.

Meanwhile, modern science — my laboratory in particular — has been studying the phenomenon of the monks' high tolerance for several years now.

At present, we are inclined toward the hypothesis that the matter lies in heredity, which the monks have learned to identify in newborns, thereby recruiting exclusively those who possess an innate amber resistance.

Another hypothesis under our consideration states that the monks gradually develop their resistance through specially developed physical and spiritual practices.

As a member of the Empire's Association of Doctors, I consider it entirely appropriate to demand additional funding in support of this research.

Our primary goal is to further the prosperity of the Empire and its citizens. While the amber plague continues to seize worlds, any method and means must be considered justified!
