I wanted to do a little something fun to celebrate the arrival of the spring season (finally!), so I've added a new tiny little questline... a three-task Easter Egg Hunt featuring new voice lines from Roland!

Completing each stage of the task line will unlock new easter egg decorations for your Outpost, and a cute wee basket to keep them in.

This event is live now with the new patch and will run until April 27th at 18:00 UTC, so there's a full month to participate if you'd like to.

You'll need to have finished Facility Iota to get the first task, which will automatically trigger.

Note: Once you unlock the decorations, you'll be able to use them on that save game slot in perpetuity.

Quality of Life, Three Weeks On

I've been working hard on smashing all the remaining bugs in the game and adding new QOL features based on your feedback both in the Steam Discussions and the Official Discord (now over 2,000 members strong!).

Here are some of the headline Quality of Life improvements added since launch:

New Options:

  • New Settings option - 'Drop Items on Death' to allow for disabling dropping items on death. Can be set at any point, and is called out specially at game start.

  • New Settings option to auto-open the crafting UI when interacting with a crafting/cooking facility.

  • New Settings option to auto-grab items crafted at a crafting/cooking facility when complete.

  • New Settings option to control scaling of the Compass UI element.

Some Key QOL Improvements:

  • Added a count of how many of an item the player has in storage within their Outpost, in the item's tooltip when hovered.

  • Constructions will no longer snap onto others that they are not designed to work with, e.g. Door Seals onto Airlocks, which should improve the clarity of what constructions can be attached to others.

  • Added a DX12 launch option to Steam when the game is launched, which should provide much higher framerates and better stability for DX12 capable hardware.

  • Added a keybind to turn off/on Roland's Chassis Lights upgrade.

Coming Soon:

  • Option to disable oxygen drain when reading logs.

  • Option/modifier key to disable snapping when building.

  • Improvements to the Hydroponic Farming UI to make replanting seeds quicker.

  • Much more!

These are obviously alongside the hundreds of smaller fixes, improvements, balancing tweaks and other changes I've been doing.

This is the twentieth patch in the three weeks since launch - I hope you feel like your feedback has been heard, and will continue to be!

I am continuing to add more improvements, and we're still following the roadmap set out in the last update post which you can see below for a reminder!

Version 1.020 - Patch Notes

New Features

  • Added three new SPRING FLING tasks and seven new placeable Outpost decorations tied to them.

  • Added a new keybinding (default 'L') to toggle Roland's Chassis Lights, if player has purchased the upgrade.

Improvements

  • The velocity required to trigger fall damage has been increased.

  • The Jump Tethers upgrade now lessens fall damage taken by the player.

  • Adjusted the text of the 'Toggle Critical Items' button in the inventory to change based on the current setting to improve clarity.

  • Added an extra fall-death trigger to the underside of the bridge outside Rho to stop player being able to hit the ground there and die from fall damage, making their items largely inaccessible.

  • The player can now immediately construct AtmoDomes (RadProtect Edition) if they come across them before finding the Buildkit plans.

Tasks

  • Set dialogues at the Dams to not play until the player has discovered Kappa.

  • Stopped player entering the Drainage Dam until the player has discovered Kappa.

Fixes

  • Fixed being able to transfer items into locked containers.

  • Fixed fall death triggers not working correctly in the lake around Facility Kappa.

  • Fixed a potential edge case softlock in BURIED MEMORIES.

  • Fixed item tooltip referencing Energy rather than Stamina when hovering consumables.

  • Fixed Airlocks potentially being unremovable due to being linked to their own doorways(!)

  • Fixed the potential to have a critical dialogue not trigger immediately when returning to the surface, if other non-critical dialogues were also available.

  • Fixed certain Outpost ambient SFX becoming too loud over time.

A Small Rest

Next week I'll be travelling to spend some time with my family and rest a bit for the first time post-launch - I'll be back to more improvements about halfway through the following week (8th).

I won't be able to respond to posts or discussions while I'm away, but will endeavour to catch up with everything upon my return.
