For a while now, we’ve been sliding, swimming, flipping, decorating - and yes… still slapping each other in the name of testing. A lot has changed in A Game About Penguins, so let’s jump straight into what we’ve been working on.

Penguins Can Finally Swim!

One of the most requested features is finally here - penguins can now swim!

You can move across the water surface or dive underwater to explore. Swimming feels smooth, playful, and relaxing. I may have spent too much time underwater “checking mechanics.” Purely professional research, obviously.

Snowboard Ramps & New Rides

Sliding on your belly is still iconic. But now, things are much faster.

We’ve added snowboard ramps across the map, letting you gain speed and pull off stylish launches. And that’s not all - you can now ride sleds, skis, and even snowmobiles.

Fun fact: Berk tried doing a full 360 on a snowmobile during testing. Let’s just say the physics system had… opinions about that.

Tricks + Progression System

Penguins can now perform mid-air tricks - flips, spins, and chaotic acrobatics included.

These aren’t just for style. Pulling off tricks earns you XP, which levels up your penguin and unlocks new items. The more ridiculous your stunts, the faster you progress.

Is it realistic? Not always. Is it fun? Absolutely.

Express Yourself: Emotes & Bumps

We’ve implemented a full emote system so you can express yourself. Dance. Wave. Send love. Celebrate. It’s all there.

We’ve improved collision systems, so penguins can now bump into each other naturally.

During testing, this mostly meant repeatedly pushing teammates into the lake. For science.

Meet the NPC Penguins

The island feels much more alive now. NPC penguins are scattered across the map. Some offer quests, others are just hanging around.

Some are mysterious. Some are silly. One of them keeps offering me butter, and honestly… I’m not sure what that means yet.

Fishing Overhaul

Fishing has been completely rebuilt.

  • Over 50 real fish species

  • Fish weight and length now affect your earnings

  • Brand-new fishing mechanics

  • Upgrades that improve efficiency

Catching the biggest fish on the island finally feels meaningful. Competition is already getting intense.

Buy a House, Make It Cozy

Penguins can now buy houses and decorate them however they like.

No more placeholder homes. You can customize your space and turn it into something cozy, stylish, or chaotic - your choice.

The Penguin Diner

A brand-new diner has appeared on the island. Right now, it’s a cozy building you can visit, but we plan to expand it into a more interactive social space.

Imagine finishing a long day of sliding, flipping, and light slapping… then meeting friends for cocoa. That’s the vibe.

That’s everything for this update! We’ve put a lot of energy into expanding the world, adding progression, and making the island feel more alive than ever.

As always, thank you for being part of this journey. Your support, feedback, and chaotic penguin energy keep us going.

Now tell me - what’s cooler: diving underwater or flying off a snowboard ramp?

With love, Your host, Alican 🐧
