A Game About Opening A Chest changes
Hello everyone!
With the upcoming event and new players jumping into the demo, I wanted to make sure you all have the best and most polished experience possible. I've been working hard on your feedback, and today I’m launching a Major Update to the Steam Demo full of quality-of-life improvements, bug fixes, and optimizations!
Here is a breakdown of what has changed:
Inventory & Automation Overhaul
The inventory system has been redesigned for better management and ease of use.
Added a new automated chest-opening system with clear visual states.
Reworked the inventory layout for cleaner organization and moved deletion elements to safer positions to prevent misclicks.
Tactical Pause System
A robust pause feature has been implemented, allowing you to freeze time during a run to strategize. You can now seamlessly navigate book tabs, manage items, and reorganize your inventory comfortably while the game is paused.
Information Flow & Clarity
Vastly improved how the game communicates data and mechanics to the player.
Redesigned item pop-ups to include weapon icons and clear synergy indicators.
Cleaned up statistics and numbers formatting in the book to avoid confusion.
Streamlined stat descriptions for better readability
Visual Polish & Juiciness
Enhanced the overall presentation and responsiveness to make the gameplay feel much more dynamic.
Implemented a new lighting system and refined particle effects for a more striking visual presentation.
UI menus and transitions are now significantly faster, snappier, and more responsive.
Optimization & Game Loop
Pre-loaded core assets to completely eliminate micro-stutter and input lag when pressing Play.
General code optimization for smoother framerates and fixed several translation bugs.
We are currently working on the final version of the game, which will feature brand-new stages, fresh mechanics, and some features that I’m incredibly excited about. For now, these are a surprise and you'll have to wait just a little longer, but I can't wait to keep pushing the project forward. Thank you all so much for supporting A Game About let's do this!
PUBLISHER
And to cap off todays news, we're excited to announce that Odd Raccoon has partnered with 2 Left Thumbs to publisher A Game About Opening A Chest!
This is a one-man publishing operation built on supporting roguelikes, arcade-like experiences, and creative projects that put fun twists on familiar formulas. I saw all that and more in AGAOAC, and am thrilled to be involved in the testing and promotional processes!
This fresh new demo update is our first step taken together as collaborators, and we're thrilled by the potential directions the game will head next alongside your own feedback. Please give the new demo a try, and let us know what you think! And thank you all for letting me be a part of this exciting new projects.
