Achievements Question For You

Achievements have been requested a couple times now, and they are something I have wanted to add for increased interaction with the Gallery.

So far I have one option for sure, it's a convoluted process, and fairly technical but I think I can deal with it and get it to work (Fingers crossed); I cannot say if it will be in the next update or when due to this, but it is something I would work on until it's implemented.

I am also trying to get in touch with another GZDOOM dev who has got achievements in their title working, but they are set to private so I cannot outright DM them yet, I might be able to find another way to contact them however.

The method I do have currently at my finger tips logs keystrokes as part of how it registers events for the achievements.

Therefore my question to you all is: How do you feel about keystrokes being registered via the app that bridges the GZDOOM engine and Steam's API for achievements?

Is this something you all are okay with, or something you revile and hate? I don't want to impliment it if it will drive everyone bananas.

I haven't seen any documentation stating it's a dangerous bridge to use, the program is called Steamshim, just so we are all on the same page.

For the moment this appears to be the only way to get GZDOOM to communicate with Steam to enable achievements, unless some wizard out there knows of another way.

The update is coming along quite well, and is nearly done and ready for release; I may do the release first and then start working on getting the achievements sorted out just to keep things moving and so the update doesn't get bogged down by technical coding work.

Also I finally found my thumb drives for getting Linux installed, so at some point the Linux version will be released.
