addedAs we announced back in June , we're currently working on the next major update for 86. In this update, we're adding a few features focused around keeping track of where you've been and what else there is to see. There's a few small changes too, but we'll reveal those with the patch notes on the day of release.
addedThe MapThe main new feature in 1.2 is the world map! In the Statistics menu you'll find a new button which, when pressed, will bring up a map of the game world. On it, you'll be able to see which rooms you've explored; perfect for working out where to go next!
addedThe MapBut that's not all - the map will also be marked with the location of the next suggested room that you should visit. This will always point to a room that leads to a new mechanic you probably won't have learnt yet, and the puzzles in these rooms should be solvable as long as you've understood the mechanics in all the other rooms you've visited so far. Use this whenever you get stuck and need an idea of where to go next.
changed100% Completion BonusesA small reward for those that have seen everything there is to see, there are a couple of extra features for if you want to easily revisit a room you enjoyed or see how everything fits together. These bonuses unlock once you have earned all of the following achievements:
changed100% Completion BonusesOnce you have all of those achievements, whenever you die, you can use the movement controls to move the camera to other rooms. This can be fun if you want to see how certain rooms connect, or to remind yourself how to get to a room you found earlier.
changed100% Completion BonusesBut that's not all: you can also start the game from wherever room you choose! When you restart, hold the Sprint button at the same time you start the run, and you'll start from whatever room the camera was previously on! Useful if you want to challenge yourself to get from one room to another in a certain time.

The Map

The main new feature in 1.2 is the world map! In the Statistics menu you'll find a new button which, when pressed, will bring up a map of the game world. On it, you'll be able to see which rooms you've explored; perfect for working out where to go next!

Use this whenever you get stuck and need an idea of where to go next.

100% Completion Bonuses

A small reward for those that have seen everything there is to see, there are a couple of extra features for if you want to easily revisit a room you enjoyed or see how everything fits together. These bonuses unlock once you have earned all of the following achievements:

  • You're Winner

  • Sonic Sluggle

  • Explorer

  • Now you don't

Once you have all of those achievements, whenever you die, you can use the movement controls to move the camera to other rooms. This can be fun if you want to see how certain rooms connect, or to remind yourself how to get to a room you found earlier.

But that's not all: you can also start the game from wherever room you choose! When you restart, hold the Sprint button at the same time you start the run, and you'll start from whatever room the camera was previously on! Useful if you want to challenge yourself to get from one room to another in a certain time.

And sorry, you can't use that feature to improve your best time by starting closer to the goal! If you start anywhere but the initial room, your wins and times won't be recorded.

And more!

We're planning to release version 1.2 on September 3rd, exactly one year after the game was released. As mentioned above, we'll release patch notes on the day, with a complete list of all the changes.

Thanks for reading, and see you next month!
