What's next for Žolík

Thanks to everyone who's already at the table. The lobby's "Mode" dropdown shows two grayed-out options — Fast and Custom — and we want to walk you through what each of those will unlock in v1.1. Both will arrive as a free update for everyone who owns the game.

⚡ Fast Mode

A looser, snappier ruleset for when you want shorter rounds:

  • No opening threshold — meld whenever you can.

  • Pure sequence is not required to open.

  • Lay-offs allowed before you've opened.

  • Meld manipulation — drag cards between melds on the table, split a combination with a right-click, merge melds together by dragging one onto another.

  • Reclaim jokers from table melds back into your hand by swapping in the represented card.

  • Undo Turn button to revert all your table edits before you commit.

  • All splits and merges stay validated — you can't leave the table in an illegal state.

🛠 Custom Rules

For house-rule purists — tweak every knob the host wants:

  • Opening threshold (0–200 points), starting hand size (8–20), joker count (0, 2, 4, 6, or 8).

  • Pure-sequence requirement on/off.

  • Minimum-turn rules for drawing from the discard pile and for melding.

  • Lay-offs before opening, must-use-drawn-card, bottom card on/off, joker-take burning, meld manipulation, jokers-allowed-to-stay-in-hand — all individually toggleable.

  • Settings are saved per-host, so your favourite ruleset carries over from session to session.

When?

Soon™. We'd rather ship it polished than ship it on a date. You'll see another news post here the day the update goes live — and the dropdown options unlock automatically.

What about v1.0?

The current build is the traditional Slow ruleset — 51-point opening with a pure sequence, 14-card starting hand, 4 jokers, 4 rounds. Nothing about how you're playing today changes. v1.1 is purely additive.

Feedback

If there's a house rule you grew up with that isn't covered by the Custom toggles above, drop it in the discussions / community hub. We'd rather hear about it now while the schema is still flexible.
