Greetings Survivors,
We hope you’re all doing well out there in the wasteland. If not, we hope you’re at least shambling responsibly and avoiding heavily armed neighborhoods. Enjoying the demo? Please leave us a Steam review so more doomed weirdos can find the apocalypse.
Update To The Apocalypse
We’ve just rolled out a chunky new update to the demo, packed with fresh chaos to dive into. So if you haven’t thrown yourself into the apocalypse yet, this is your sign.
YOU vs Zombies Demo The apocalypse now now has :
More balance
More polish
More controller support
More clarity
More bugs fixed
AND more death 😉
The Demo Isn’t Deadly Enough?! Ok BET!
The zombies would like you to know they’ve taken the recent balance feedback personally and are now putting significantly more effort into murder. The apocalypse is now trickier, meaner, and significantly less interested in your long-term survival.
You Can Now Generate New Weirdos Heroes
We’ve also reset generated heroes again, which means EVERYONE gets 2 fresh Ritual generations to test the updated demo with brand new timeline disasters.
Your previous heroes have been “retired from active timeline duty.” They definitely weren’t torn apart by the Ritual while screaming. 😬

🧠 GENERAL IMPROVEMENTS
Upgraded character select screen
Tutorial split into 3 screens because the old one was flashbanging new survivors with information
Added more visible stat indicators
Search objectives are now significantly harder to completely ignore while standing directly on top of them
New text added across level-up cards
Survivors who become zombies now have more horrifying things to say about the experience
Ash & Morgan now speak more during the Ritual
Level-up card logic improved
🎮 CONTROLLER / UI / HUMAN TECHNOLOGY
Massive controller overhaul so you no longer feel personally attacked by the UI
Pause menu flow improved
Secondary ability icon now reflects your secondary ability
You can now launch in windowed mode
💀 GAMEPLAY BALANCE
Apparently you want more pain?! So the demo is now more challenging with a massive balance pass across attacks, cooldowns, XP curve, and general “why are you all surviving so easily?” tuning
Added more analytics so we can study survivor behaviour and make more balancing improvements
We’ve added pauses between horde waves so you have a brief moment to reflect on your mistakes.
🌫️ WORLD STUFF
Added a new texture loading system so the apocalypse arrives with less screaming
Updated glyph art at level start/end
Charge attacks now look significantly more dramatic and dangerous
Added new fog visuals and warnings to remind survivors that walking into the deadly red mist is, in fact, a terrible idea.
Fixed various level issues across the city, carpark, rural town, and office maps where reality was behaving incorrectly
🪲 BUG SQUASHING
NPCs have stopped spawning with strange little metal shoes
Zombies no longer awkwardly linger after objectives
Loads of misc. bug fixes, polish, and emergency timeline repairs
