Pupdate #1 is LIVE!

Good morning and happy Tuesday! We've just launched our first big update to You Can Pet The Dog VR, which includes a slew of bugfixes and quality of life changes.

addedThe dog now has a maximum velocity, making it harder for it to misbehave (in a technical sense; it is a Very Good Dog otherwise!).
addedThe area now has an out-of-bounds, so if you throw something over the fence or on top of the roof, it re-appears in the center. This sometimes did not work correctly.
addedAdded some variation to petting the dog, sometimes it now puts its head down.

We've just launched our first big update to You Can Pet The Dog VR, which includes a slew of bugfixes and quality of life changes.

Here's everything we've tackled:

  • The dog now has a maximum velocity, making it harder for it to misbehave (in a technical sense; it is a Very Good Dog otherwise!).

  • The area now has an out-of-bounds, so if you throw something over the fence or on top of the roof, it re-appears in the center. This sometimes did not work correctly.

  • The dog now reappears in the center if it happens to move out of bounds.

  • Made some adjustments that makes the dog flying less common (it is caused by objects going underneath the dog at certain angles and "lifting" and throwing it into the air).

  • Frisbee now flies straight and much farther.

  • Added some variation to petting the dog, sometimes it now puts its head down.

  • Fixed an issue where Sandbox mode was inverted and the timer wouldn't start.

  • Increased the grab-size of the hands, so it should be easier to grab things from the floor or pet the dog when needed.

  • If teleporting when the dog is retrieving a toy, the dog should now adjust its path to follow you based on your new location.

This patch officially retires Rocket Dog, and we greatly appreciate the laughs. 🚀🐶 We hope to honor Rocket Dog in a way in the future, so know that their service is not forgotten.

Some general notes:

  • We experimented with fixes to make picking up the frisbee easier, but ultimately it is largely reliant on your floor level. Please make sure to reset your floor level in your VR device settings before playing!
