If you're on Windows and have been using Steam Input, you probably wouldn't even have noticed this. Enabling Steam Input is still the recommended way to go if on Windows since it is able to pick up inputs from all sorts of controllers besides the standard configurations.

If you're on macOS, Steam Input should be DISABLED to prevent macOS from picking up both your controller and a phantom X360 controller that macOS seems to incorrectly detect due to Steam Input.
