Thank you for reading this, I hope you'll have fun with my game and see the positives in its simplicity.

What changed

0 fixes2 additions3 changes0 removals
  • UI and audio
  • Gameplay
  • Events
  • Server
changedArcade mode level select OR retry on defeat button
addedSome not-as-simple features that would be great to add:
addedRanked matchmaking - problem is a matchmaking mode would require some specific ruleset everyone accepts as the standard, adding more rulesets would split the queues/mmr or add an element of randomness if one is selected at random. I have not made up my mind about it and think more player feedback is required for this decision.
changedBigger lobbies and spectator mode - self-explanatory, lobbies where more than two players can join and challenge others to a 1v1 match, as well as the ability to watch whats happening in those matches.
changedI'm aware of a few network bugs that I have not considered testing for prior to release and will focus on fixing first cause its kinda embarassing. Mainly with accepting Steam invites outside the main menus, for example while already in a lobby or active match. Sometimes this leaves a "ghost" lobby you cant connect to. Rebooting the game seemed to help.

PLANS

Some simple QoL features to expect:

  • Mid-game pause menu

  • Arcade mode level select OR retry on defeat button

  • Fighters display toggle

  • Singleplayer custom match

  • "Ready" state for lobbies instead of any player deciding to start the match

Some not-as-simple features that would be great to add:

  • Ranked matchmaking - problem is a matchmaking mode would require some specific ruleset everyone accepts as the standard, adding more rulesets would split the queues/mmr or add an element of randomness if one is selected at random. I have not made up my mind about it and think more player feedback is required for this decision.

  • Color palettes - I dont like the visibility on the "O" side, the shades of blue and purple chosen ended up contrasting poorly, but going through all the sprites in the game would already be a hassle so might as well rework things to allow for color palette swaps.

  • Bigger lobbies and spectator mode - self-explanatory, lobbies where more than two players can join and challenge others to a 1v1 match, as well as the ability to watch whats happening in those matches.

BUGS

I'm aware of a few network bugs that I have not considered testing for prior to release and will focus on fixing first cause its kinda embarassing. Mainly with accepting Steam invites outside the main menus, for example while already in a lobby or active match. Sometimes this leaves a "ghost" lobby you cant connect to. Rebooting the game seemed to help.

If you encounter any bugs, please report them on the Steam community page.
