changedWe are hoping to show the potential of the game with this demo. It has no restriction other than what isn't developed yet (such as other scenarios and support for bigger maps, and additional content like crafting items, skills...). It has no play time limit and lots of replayability.
changedCreating an Immersive WorldEven though the game works by "Scenarios", they only give you a long term goal and determine the events that will trigger in your world, but don't restrict you in any way as you can freely explore the world, build your town, or do your own things instead of trying to complete the main goal.
changedDemo ContentIn the demo, you can play the entire first scenario on the small map size. Your goal in this scenario is to convince the scattered animal towns to unite under one banner to face humans. But how you will do this, and which animal you will recruit is up to you! As there are many ways to gain more rebels!
addedWhat's Next?We haven't announced any content update yet. As for now we are focused on improving the tutorial, fixing all bugs, and making sure everything runs smoothly for the demo release. Once the demo is released and we have a mostly stable build that people are happy with. Then we will start talking more about what we want to add next.

Hi everyone! We are proud to announce the release of a free demo for Woodland Rebels on August 20.

We are hoping to show the potential of the game with this demo. It has no restriction other than what isn't developed yet (such as other scenarios and support for bigger maps, and additional content like crafting items, skills...). It has no play time limit and lots of replayability.

We will definitely release updates regularly, either through the public demo or internal playtest. Please expect bugs and issues since the game is still under development. We usually fix discovered issues relatively quickly if they are mentioned on our Discord.

Creating an Immersive World

Our goal with Woodland Rebels is to create an immersive world where you are free to explore at your own pace, and free to decide who to befriend and who to fight. We want to create a world with a lot of depth that feels alive, From villagers doing their own job, to various clans having their own goals and motivations, to groups of outlaws, human camps, underground puzzle rooms and more...

Even though the game works by "Scenarios", they only give you a long term goal and determine the events that will trigger in your world, but don't restrict you in any way as you can freely explore the world, build your town, or do your own things instead of trying to complete the main goal.

Demo Content

In the demo, you can play the entire first scenario on the small map size. Your goal in this scenario is to convince the scattered animal towns to unite under one banner to face humans. But how you will do this, and which animal you will recruit is up to you! As there are many ways to gain more rebels!

The scenario has a lot of replayability since the world generated is different each time, you can select the seed to generate a world that you created before. There are 3 difficulty levels to adapt the game to your preferred play-style. Peaceful mode can be a good choice for a first run, unless you want to be running away from humans until you are strong enough to face them!

You have a choice of 8 animal species to choose from, each with their own strengths and weaknesses.

What's Next?

We haven't announced any content update yet. As for now we are focused on improving the tutorial, fixing all bugs, and making sure everything runs smoothly for the demo release. Once the demo is released and we have a mostly stable build that people are happy with. Then we will start talking more about what we want to add next.

Events

We are proud to announce that Woodland Rebels will be part of three upcoming Steam events.

  • August 8: Cat Awareness steam fest + surprise.

  • August 20: Demo Release!

  • Sept 1st: PvE Survival fest on Steam.

  • October: Birds of Play fest on Steam + content update for the demo.

Wishlist to get notified of the Demo Launch

If many people play the game at launch, it may increase the visibility on Steam, which will motivate the team to create even more content if there's a good interest in the game!
