🛠️ Dev Log | v0.4.6 Update: Wheels, Tracks, and Sailboats

✨Hello, wonderers! It might have seemed a bit quiet in our community lately, but the engine room has been roaring. Since January 1st, we’ve pushed over 900 commits to our code repository.

added🚗 On the Road: More Ways to RoamWe are constantly refining every corner of the game—from combat to QoL. This update focuses on traversal. We’ve unlocked new ways to move across the world:
added🚗 On the Road: More Ways to Roam🎒 Portable Vehicle Slots: You can now bind vehicles to hotkeys to summon or retract them instantly, making the transition between walking and driving seamless. We’ve also kept the "World Object" mode, so you can still park your ride like a building to DIY your own garage or pier.

🏹️The Elegant Archer: Layered Challenges

After regenerating your world in v0.4.6, keep an eye out near the forest edge for your first firearm, a nimble pistol, along with basic ammo recipes.

  • Crosshair Implementation: Whether you’re using bows, guns, boomerangs, or throwing stars, a new crosshair assistant is now live. We’ve also optimized controller mapping for a smoother combat flow.

  • Expanded Arsenal: Beyond the pistol, we’ve tuned bows, boomerangs, and shields. Fight your way—on your own terms.

  • Status Effects: Fire, Stun, Ricochet, Bleed, and Webbing... these effects can now be attached to your ammo or used against you in monster traps. Things are about to get... "unpredictable" (hopefully in a good way!).

  • Gear Loadouts & Set Bonuses: You can now save multiple equipment presets for quick swapping. Additionally, armor now features Set Bonuses, making the hunt for matching gear much more rewarding.

🧪Stories of the Past & The Psionic System

The Psionic System is officially online as a standalone attribute.

  • It functions independently of Health and Food and regenerates naturally.

  • Morphing now consumes Psionics instead of Hunger, allowing you to transform more frequently. This is just the beginning of a larger Psionic combat branch.

  • Narrative Breadcrumbs: We’ve added more clues about this world’s history. In this 2D sandbox, we want exploration to feel like a conversation with the planet, not just a checklist of camps to clear.

🛠️ Optimization & Bug Fixes

  • Smarter Monsters: Optimized monster line-of-sight. Obstacles and distance now impact their behavior more realistically.

  • The "Extinction" Bug: Huge thanks to シカダイラヒロツグ for providing the save file that helped us fix a bug where monsters would stop spawning over time.🫶 Watch your back—the wilds are teeming again!

  • Lighting OptimizationAdjusted torches and environmental light sources to deliver more natural illumination while maintaining sufficient brightness. (Special thanks to the many players in our community and comment sections for the valuable feedback — we’re still fine-tuning to find the best balance.)
  • Multiplayer SmoothnessFixed the "character stuttering" issue while moving in vehicles during co-op.
  • Performance: Extensive polish and fixes for a smoother overall frame rate.

This update is live now on the Steam Demo. Please note that some new content (like the new car and pistol) requires starting a new save to generate. 🎉As the Year of the Horse approaches on this ancient planet’s calendar, the journey of Wonderia continues.
