addedCelestial NavigationNavigation will be a key component of the new open world gameplay. The game will no longer update your position on the map automatically, so we need to add different methods for the players to find their locations in the world. We have added a new star field based on real life data that is accurate enough to do celestial navigation. The sun and moon also move correctly, and by measuring these, the players can find their location. We will also add light houses and landmarks to aid in terrestrial navigation.
addedNew unitsWe have added mine fields, u-boat nets, detector loops, observation posts and destructible buildings.
changedImproved AIWe have improved the Sonar/asdic model used by the AI, as well as the ability of ships and planes to cooperate when hunting a u-boat.
addedImproved AIMission Editor UI / UX Work on the mission editor has progressed, and focus has been shifted to the user interface and user experience when authoring missions in the new editor. A dedicated menu for authoring mission objectives and conditions have been added and will be finished next month. This system also ties in another large system, which is mission arcs: enabling you to author chains of missions, with various endings dependent on specific objectives or conditions.
addedImproved AIWhat’s next? The game is divided into server and client side architecture. We have been focusing on making the new world and AI systems, which are all server side/back end systems. This work is mostly done! We expect to be finishing the work on the back end during the next month. After this the client side has to be updated to accept all of the new server side systems.
