Windstorm: Start of a Great Friendship - Remastered changes
Hello Riders! π
We have been hard at work behind the scenes to improve the game's performance, add new accessibility features and address some common bugs submitted by the community.
Let's jump right in!
π Accessibility Improvements:
Adjustable haptic feedback strength
Created three camera distances, UI displayed in Free Ride
Added new control scheme to reflect new key binding
Improve Jump Indicator:
Added time dilation to obstacle jumping
Show jump indicator even at angles or when riding slowly
Accessibility Highlighting of Objects and Animals (+ sparkle)
Implemented settings to switch off motion blur
Color-Blind Mode Implementation
Camera Locking Improvements
Camera Tree Fade, iteration on camera collision
Show mouse cursor in popup and mission debrief widgets when not using a gamepad
Show mouse cursor while displaying mission popups
π Performance Improvements:
Overall better frame rate
Shortened Loading Screen Time
Loading Screen covers whole loading process
Introduction Video: Replaced waiting-for-video-delay with a timer based on the video duration
SteamDeck changes
Improve deer runaway animation and AI
Engine Upgrade
π οΈ Bug Fixes:
Play marker no longer invisible in snow
Search area markers now less intense
Localization updated
Correct keys now displayed in Controls
Fixed rotating horse statue material
Fixed collisions in Kaltenbach
Made the cave accessible on winter and summer map
Set up correct navigation for elements inside the pause menu
Refactor console settings menu
Use user-defined language to show splash screen text
Correctly save changed user settings
Set up correct navigation behavior for all elements within options
Fixed that player could no longer interact with the game behind the 'Mission Completed' popup after reset which caused the popup to remain stuck on screen
Fixed sleigh cameras not separated from 3rd person camera, creating better angle and no longer skipping input
Cleaned up freeride sleigh when resetting horse or returning to Kaltenbach
Starting either of the two blue marker 'Go for a Ride' missions no longer triggers the intro splash screen video
Increasing volume when using gamepad without losing focus
Spamming buttons to skip tutorials no longer freeze the game
Fixed potential crash during photo mission when no world can be derived from the mission object
Prevent moving backwards if the back of the horse is blocked
HUD elements are no longer duplicated if the mission is reset
Save settings in GameUserSettings instead of DefaultGame; correctly save benchmark result to prevent multiple benchmarks on the same install
Objects like wooden gates no longer have invisible walls
Fit controller scheme in settings (Steamdeck)
Resetting the horse in tutorial no longer causes screen misplacement
Can now navigate bottom menu in paddock with gamepad
Fix that changing the language in the options menu correctly applies the selected language
Cleaned up the camera intro for missions and prevented any camera input while the intro is still active
