Wilderings: The Lost Spring changes
Community Playtest #2 July 24th-31st!
Our next Community Playtest is now live! Come test our game July 30th to Aug 7th! As we mentioned earlier this month, 3 major themes emerged in your feedback and so will be the focus of this playtest: Combat improvements, increased Player Agency, and Overall Polish. To address this feedback we've been hard at work on a number of changes that we think will improve each of these points, but we need your help to make sure! Here is what you can look forward to testing during the playtest:
Combat Improvements
Increased Enemy Variety. We've started making different sized versions of existing enemies to provide different levels of challenge, the first of these new enmies, the Globbit, will be included in the playtest.
Targeting Improvements to improve player control. You want to hit what you meant to swing at and we heard that loud and clear. These changes are intended to improve the feel of combat.
More Consistent Enemy Timing. We've made adjustments to make anticipating enemy attacks based on their animations a more consistent experience.
An Expanded Skill Tree. We've added a greater variety of upgrades as well as two new Hântu specific upgrade paths.
Additional Hântu. We've added in 6 brand new Hântu. You might recognize a few of them, but this is your first chance to unlock them in the game and bring them along with you as part of your team!
Explosive Barrels. Red means it goes boom right?
Hit Combo Scales Damage. Alongside better targeting we want to reward players for fluid combat. Chaining attacks will do higher damage.
Player Agency
Luck system. A new skill that Abi can improve over time. Improved Luck increases your Crit Chance as well as improving your chance of higher Rarity Rewards (see below).
Health Options. We heard your feedback that outside of RNG from Springs or having acquired Lumie, gaining health over the course of a run could be tricky. We've now added Health options into the Treasure chests spread out across the land as well as adding more healing options from from Hântu.
Rarity System. Rewards will now have a rarity (like Common, Rare, Legendary etc) with higher rarity versions of a reward granting more than a more common version. You can increase your chance of seeing higher rarity rewards by improving your Luck Skill!
Overall Polish
Music. Our in-game soundtrack has received a major upgrade, with significantly more music that now dynamically adjusts to game play situations
Improved Sound Effects. Alongside our music improvements we've also added improvements to overall sound design in the game
Voiced Dialogue. Our dialogue now has voice acting! English only for now but we hope this helps better immerse you in the story.
Stamina Bar Improvement. We've relocated the Stamina bar to be right next to your reticle to make it easier to keep track. Additionally we made it a honey gold color and added more feedback prompts to indicate when you're low or out of Stamina.
Better explanation of progression mechanics. We've done a review of all cards and dialogue prompts explaining skills and in-game systems to improve the way the game teaches you how to play.
Rolling Changes. We've adjusted roll distance to make it more useful. Additionally you can now roll through clutter to destroy it and collect Memory Fragments, no need to stop your journey to attack it!
Map version 1. We've added a static map that allows you to zoom in and out to help you better navigate Mainland.
Remember, like our previous playtests you'll need to request access on our Steam Store Page to be able to join!
