Whirlwind Magician changes
Welcome to the first Whirlwind Magician Community Spotlight, where I highlight one or more things from Whirlwind Magician players and fans that I think are cool! (These posts will not be scheduled)
Today I'd like to spotlight Whirlwind Magician's first recorded speedrun, completed by French Twitch streamer Sekeri_rat!
He first started routing a 100% speedrun of the game last Thursday, which I discovered randomly as I was browsing Twitch. After multiple runs, he's brought his clear time of the game from 36 minutes and 27 seconds down to an impressive 17 minutes and 13 seconds!
His run showcases many cool ticks and techniques that you can perform in the game. If you want to see them or are even interested in speedrunning Whirlwind Magician yourself, I highly recommend watching the run! He was also generous enough to provide English commentary for it.
SPOILER WARNING: As a 100% run, this speedrun reveals how to obtain every secret item and also reveals the secret ending you receive for getting all of said items. Don't watch it if you don't want to be spoiled!

Whirlwind Magician was intentionally designed to have many hidden tricks, techniques, and skips you can perform to save time, inspired by games like Super Metroid. So it makes me very happy to see people like Sekeri discovering them and utilizing them in speedruns. While this early run is impressive, I will say that there are still many tricks and skips yet to be discovered!
I messaged Sekeri and it sounds like he'll be submitting this run to the Fluff Event, a video game streaming marathon on Twitch that raises funds for charity. It'll be taking place from May 30th to June 1st. https://fluffevent.fr/en/#association
I'm curious to see how this event will go down, and I wonder if we'll start to see more Whirlwind Magician speedruns!
