Where the forest ends changes
The release state of the game was a total mess, and for that, I sincerely apologize.
This project was developed by a very small team, and despite our testing, several critical issues made their way into the release build. Some players encountered softlocks and progression blockers that made it impossible to continue playing, which is incredibly frustrating and not the experience we wanted anyone to have.
We've now fixed all game-breaking bugs that we're currently aware of, and the game should finally be playable from start to finish. We'll continue hunting down rare edge-case issues as they are reported.
Important: If you've already encountered one of the softlocks mentioned above, your current save may still be affected. In some cases, you may need to start a new playthrough to fully resolve the issue, although this won't be necessary for everyone.
Fixed a softlock that could occur after saving Phil.
Fixed a softlock in the Train Depot.
Fixed a softlock in the Highwayman quest.
Fixed a softlock in the Whack a Mole quest.
Fixed a bug where melee upgrades wouldn't load correctly.
Fixed an issue where keys were not being saved properly.
Fixed light flickering after the Lab section.
Reduced the Dancing Witch sewer boss's health and damage.
Improved Bandit AI.
Increased Kick AOE range.
Removed a duplicated North Gate door.
Improved collisions in several areas.
Added looping music to the main menu.
Various other fixes and improvements.
Unfortunately сontroller support is not currently implemented and the game is intended to be played with a keyboard and mouse for now. Full controller support is something we'd like to add in a future update.
Thank you for reporting bugs, sharing saves, and being patient while we worked through these problems. Your feedback has been invaluable and is helping make Where the Forest Ends the game it was always meant to be.
Thank you for sticking with us.
