Weed County changes
After several months of working on the largest update Weed County has seen so far, I'm happy to say version 0009 is now available.
This new update changes the game quite significantly gameplay-wise and there's also a lot of changes under the hood. Because of the extent of some of these additions and changes, any save older saves won't be compatible with this new update. The good news is that I've spent a lot of time future proofing the game so there shouldn't be save compatibility issues in the next several updates (at least).
Here’s a breakdown of all the additions and noteworthy changes in the new update. At the bottom is all the changes in bullet point form.
NEW DETAILS PANEL
When you hover the mouse over an interactive object, a panel will pop up on the right side of the screen. This panel will tell you what the object is and details about it, like how to use it. This feature is helpful for many reasons as you can easily see prices at the thrift store or the growth time on your “crops” at home.
NEW REAL ESTATE
As you walk around Weed County, you’ll notice more for sale signs next to buildings. You can now pretty much buy every property. Commercial properties will allow you to launder dirty cash. Residential properties can’t launder money but still generate rent. With all the new buyable properties, you can potentially generate a large sum of passive income.
RESOURCE GATHERING
Around Weed County you might notice a new plant scattered around the area. By picking the fruit you’ll get Cactus Fruit. It’s a new natural resource that can be found and used to create a more specialized and valuable product. In future updates, more resources will be added that can be gathered and used for various recipes.
DELIVERIES
A new way to make cash is through selling your product to people around town. Each person will request different products and different amounts. This is a great way to earn more cash because individuals will pay more for specialized deliveries than selling all your product to Darrell. These deliveries can be unlocked as you increase your respect level. You can see what the person is requesting by hovering the mouse over them and viewing the details popup.
EDIBLES
One of the delivery requests will be brownies. To bake edibles, you can buy a stove, buy ingredients at the gas station, and get cooking. Delivering brownies when requested can be quite lucrative. Currently the only way to sell edibles is through deliveries, but this will be expanded in the future.
CREATE NEW STRAINS
A new workbench has been added where you can create new strains of weed. This workbench is available to buy at the blackmarket. By combining weed and other ingredients, you can create strains that will be more valuable than Weed alone. For example, you can currently create the Cactus Weed strain. By using the Cactus Fruit you gathered and weed, Cactus Weed will be created, which can be sold through deliveries for a high price. As more resources and ingredients are added to that game, more strains will be added as well.
NEW LOCATION - ABANDONED AUTO SHOP
If you head West off the beaten path of Crossroads, you'll arrive at a new location. This is a purchasable property where you can not only launder cash but also automated weed growing. After buying the old auto shop, you'll have the option to buy up to nine planters that will automatically grow and harvest weed for you. This automation does come at a premium though but well worth it.

Because there are so many changes and additions in this update, I expect to be spending some time fixing bugs that may have slipped through testing.
