Watermelon Neighbors: Find Everyone changes
While I’m working on a new level, I decided to answer a few questions about development 🎮
“How long does it take to create one level?”
Honestly, this question is a bit difficult for me — that’s why I decided to start with it.
Before I reached out to a psychiatrist and a psychotherapist for help, work was going very slowly. I could spend a whole month drawing just 2–3 sprites. Now, on average, I make 1 level per week. It all depends on how complex the level itself is from a gameplay perspective.
“Which level was the hardest to develop?”
Probably the first one, because I was getting used to isometric drawing. Also, a very difficult level I’m working on right now is “Laundry Room”. It has a huge number of details that need to be drawn.
“Why watermelons? 😄”
I’m from Ukraine, from a small city called Kherson, which is known for its watermelon harvests. Right now, this city is under constant shelling. I’m staying at home. I don’t have the chance to feel calm, coziness, and quiet. So I really wanted to create a small game universe where those things exist.
