addedWe hope you guys are enjoying the recently added simultaneous turns mode. There is no rest for the wicked, however, and as the most wicked little game developer around, we are hard at work at yet another update for you guys! Many of the upcoming changes aim to address longstanding issues with certain systems, so let's dive in and see what's under the lid.
addedQuestsQuests have been in an awkward spot lately, especially in Chailand. Many quests that work fine in Calicornia become either way too easy or obscenely hard in Chailand, which makes the entire system often seem like it's not worth the hassle. To remedy this, we will be tuning certain quests especially for Chailand, and adding new map-specific quests into the mix!
changedQuestsAnother system plaguing the quest system are the cash rewards which are just not up to par unless you're playing as the adventurer. Grabbing a quest should be a viable way of spending your round as any role, so we'll be bumping the cash rewards up by a decent amount.
addedQuestsFinally, we'll be adding some brand new quests to increase variety. Huzzah!
addedLife EventsChoice events are a fun medium for us to inject some humor into the game by giving the players an option to make weird choices at the start of each round. While we enjoy the silliness of them, we have gotten complaints from people that find the choices too arbitrary and hard to predict, so we'll be adding two new options to game setup in the next update.
changedLife EventsThe first option will show the outcomes of each choice, allowing players to make a more strategic option of which reward or punishment to face based on their current state in the game, without having to rely on memory of what every single option means. The other option will simply turn life events off, if you're not a big fan of them and would rather keep the game rolling.

Oh, hi there!

We hope you guys are enjoying the recently added simultaneous turns mode. There is no rest for the wicked, however, and as the most wicked little game developer around, we are hard at work at yet another update for you guys! Many of the upcoming changes aim to address longstanding issues with certain systems, so let's dive in and see what's under the lid.

Quests

Quests have been in an awkward spot lately, especially in Chailand. Many quests that work fine in Calicornia become either way too easy or obscenely hard in Chailand, which makes the entire system often seem like it's not worth the hassle. To remedy this, we will be tuning certain quests especially for Chailand, and adding new map-specific quests into the mix!

Another system plaguing the quest system are the cash rewards which are just not up to par unless you're playing as the adventurer. Grabbing a quest should be a viable way of spending your round as any role, so we'll be bumping the cash rewards up by a decent amount.

Finally, we'll be adding some brand new quests to increase variety. Huzzah!

Life Events

Choice events are a fun medium for us to inject some humor into the game by giving the players an option to make weird choices at the start of each round. While we enjoy the silliness of them, we have gotten complaints from people that find the choices too arbitrary and hard to predict, so we'll be adding two new options to game setup in the next update.

The first option will show the outcomes of each choice, allowing players to make a more strategic option of which reward or punishment to face based on their current state in the game, without having to rely on memory of what every single option means. The other option will simply turn life events off, if you're not a big fan of them and would rather keep the game rolling.

Finally, we'll be adding in over 50 new life events next update, including role specific ones for every role that was lacking role events. Keep an eye out for any weird new scenarios in the next update!

Role Tuning and QoL Stuff

While we're excited to add new roles into the game, we also want to keep polishing some of the older ones to make them feel better to play.

We have added checkmarks to the Drifter to allow players to better track which jobs they have completed.

We have also reworked the Hacker's UI widget to better explain how the heat mechanics work and why players are being caught by the feds at small amounts of heat.

At the end of your round, if the little red arrow hits any amount of heat in your bar, you'll be busted. If it doesn't, you're safe! Hopefully, this will clear up any confusion.

That's it for now. Consider leaving us a review here on Steam if you haven't already, it really helps us out!

Blog over. Get back to playing Walk of Life!
