Hey VoidSeekers!

A lot has been happening behind the scenes lately, and with the turn of the new month, we felt it was the perfect time to pull back the curtain and share a broader look at what’s currently in the works.

This post is dedicated to the individual contributions of our team members, showcasing the work going into the next release while also teasing some of the exciting things waiting further ahead.

=================

Bringing the World to Life

=================

Wolf has been focusing heavily on the interior environments for our upcoming main dungeon: The Jaee Ruins, creating concept art and guiding our other artist Doppel through production of the first dungeon assets.

These early pieces are helping shape the atmosphere of one of the game’s most mysterious upcoming locations.

In addition, Wolf completed the line art and base colors for an illustration currently being animated, while continuing to provide art direction and feedback for Caly’s new standing art and costume variations.

Meanwhile, our animator Okarun has been ESPECIALLY busy with a range of animated assets working out the kinks in the Live2D work for Caly’s new missionary POV scene ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

But of-course, it' s not all play as Doppel has been busy minting several environment concepts for upcoming encounters within Jaee as well.

His workload remains saturated with new scene sketches, banner expansions, and multiple outfit concepts!

Story & Writing

=================

Narrative work this month continues to expand both the main plot and character-driven encounters.

  • Even while Caly remains knee-deep in her mission to break the Urtu’s grip on the galaxy, that doesn’t mean she won’t find rare moments to indulge in a little late-night fun…

  • Elsewhere, Astis the Rogue is finally preparing to leave Tripteen. On his mind? The scavenger girl he met, and all the ways she might help him rebuild his fortune.

  • Looming over everything is the destination from Caly’s vision: Planet Jaee.

The planet appears on no star charts, forcing Caly to venture forward with little more than instinct and determination. She may know where to go, but whether she is truly ready for the mystery waiting there remains another question entirely.

=================

Gameplay & System Improvements

=================

On the technical side, a major focus has been bringing older content up to modern VoidBound standards.

This includes:

• Reworking older fights • Adding more quick-time events • Optimizing legacy systems • Implementing additional quality-of-life improvements • Ongoing bug fixing and system refinements

As new mechanics and content are introduced, we continue revisiting older sections of the game to ensure they benefit from newer design improvements. This remains an ongoing process as we keep exploring just how far we can push RPG Maker’s systems.

One notable addition is improved directional guidance for players exploring the world.

New direction markers will pop up making navigation clearer, especially when passing key routes and objectives, reducing friction while preserving exploration.

Alongside this, we’ve continued making smaller refinements to arcade content and older quests to better align them with current design standards.

=================

Looking Ahead [July and Beyond]

=================

While we initially planned for a June release, we ultimately decided to move it to July to allow more room for both new content and the narrative sequence needed to properly set the stage for what comes next.

Beyond this release lies new story progression, deeper mysteries surrounding Jaee, expanded encounters, and content we’re eager to share more openly once the build is in your hands.

As always, thank you for supporting VoidBound!

Kind Regards,

Cursed-Atelier Team
