changedVOID PROFIT Devlog #7: Deepening GameplayMade some changes that should deepen gameplay and improve emergent gameplay possibilities.
addedCargo ManufacturersGeneric just "cargo" is gone. Well not gone, just changed a bit. There are still generic items you can buy/sell/carry but now there's an added layer to that - Cargo Manufacturers.
changedCargo ManufacturersThese manufacturers specialise in a specific cargo type and might fetch a better price or be a requirement for a job (e.g. Job is to procure ship armour plates, pays a specific price per item, pays more for HeraTek armour plates).
changedCargo ManufacturersHowever, a lot of these manufacturers also produce other cargo that they're not specialised in. Quality of those items might be really bad, worse than the generic stuff. So it's up to you to learn what will bring in profit instead of just buying branded cargo. This is just a small layer that brings a lot of gameplay depth.
changedChanges:Changed the Pirate Guild faction - tolls, scanning logic, dialogue and behaviour.
addedChanges:Added a differentiating layer above the base cargo - manufacturers.

VOID PROFIT Devlog #7: Deepening Gameplay

Made some changes that should deepen gameplay and improve emergent gameplay possibilities.

Pirate Guild

The Pirate Guild was just a major/core faction. They behaved like everyone else and, since they don't have any cargo they consider illegal, were just a nuisance. Now they act completely differently.

Traveling through other factions' area will mean that you'll have to pay close attention to routes you're taking if you have illegal cargo or outstanding fines. The Pirate Guild is now not like that. They care if you have a lot of credits on you. They care if you're transporting an important passenger. They stop and scan you on less populated routes.

This is something that you should consider while traveling through Pirate-controlled space. Otherwise you might lose a passenger and job. Or even worse, lose credits to what they call a "Toll."

Cargo Manufacturers

Generic just "cargo" is gone. Well not gone, just changed a bit. There are still generic items you can buy/sell/carry but now there's an added layer to that - Cargo Manufacturers.

These manufacturers specialise in a specific cargo type and might fetch a better price or be a requirement for a job (e.g. Job is to procure ship armour plates, pays a specific price per item, pays more for HeraTek armour plates).

However, a lot of these manufacturers also produce other cargo that they're not specialised in. Quality of those items might be really bad, worse than the generic stuff. So it's up to you to learn what will bring in profit instead of just buying branded cargo. This is just a small layer that brings a lot of gameplay depth.

Changes:

  • Changed the Pirate Guild faction - tolls, scanning logic, dialogue and behaviour.

  • Added a differentiating layer above the base cargo - manufacturers.

  • Changed jobs to take manufacturers in consideration

  • Allowed the player specialisation to include specific manufacturers. You can now be a trusted supplier of not just a type of cargo but a manufacturer's products.
