changedWarehouse DistrictWelcome to the warehouse district! It's our biggest and most thoughtfully designed location yet. Zipline across forklifts, traverse the inner workings of multi floor store rooms, or take cover behind storage containers.
addedPump ShotgunWe built a new gun handling system for the pump shotgun with bullet spray, pumpable rounds, and loadable shells. Expect new shotguns to start popping up all of the map. The new king of close corridor action.
addedNew Lobby SystemIn addition to a whole new look to the lobby with custom banners that showcase the seasons legends and warriors! We built a lobby system that should make it much easier to quickly hop into the games and find players. One of the biggest issues we've felt the game has had was its lobby system, it took too long to get games going and finding other players was difficult. With this new system queue up the second you want to for a match or hang out in the public lobby room until you get a group going and then queue up.
addedNew Kill RoomWe've all had a blast getting kills in the killroom while waiting on a match. With the new lobby and lobby system you can chill out now and hop onto the red or blue side for a few quick kills whenever you want. No more being forced to wait in the killroom. This Kill Room is BIG! Big enough for some team battles. That or skip this portion of the game entirely and go straight to the battlegrounds. Your choice warrior.

Season 2 - Official Trailer

Season 2 - Update

We've got a lot of BIG updates to share with you about season two. They include warehouse district, new lobby system, shotguns, weather modes, art overhaul, new killroom, new gun range and a plethora of minor improvements including bug fixes, optimizations, minor features and design tweaks.

Warehouse District

Welcome to the warehouse district! It's our biggest and most thoughtfully designed location yet. Zipline across forklifts, traverse the inner workings of multi floor store rooms, or take cover behind storage containers.

Pump Shotgun

We built a new gun handling system for the pump shotgun with bullet spray, pumpable rounds, and loadable shells. Expect new shotguns to start popping up all of the map. The new king of close corridor action.

Randomized weather System

We built a number of weather conditions to play in VBG. Original version, overcast, thunderstorm, moonlight, sunny day, and red sun. Each time you start a match a weather version will be chosen at random giving the game a unique feel. Let us know your favorite!

New Lobby System

In addition to a whole new look to the lobby with custom banners that showcase the seasons legends and warriors! We built a lobby system that should make it much easier to quickly hop into the games and find players. Multiplayer Gun Range

By default Virtual Battlegrounds is always multiplayer now outside of private games and your private room. As soon as you step into the gun range expect to test your skills against friends or strangers!

  • Added join game functionality to public lobby area.

  • Added banners to the public lobby that showcase warriors and legends of that season.

  • Added advanced vegetation option that adds a lot more detail to the map.

  • Added skins for players who hit legend and warrior in season one.

  • Added zone hit visual effect.

  • Added the ability to climb any part of a tree including all of their branches.

  • Replaced all major UI elements with new ones.

Design Changes

  • Made matches 30% faster by decreasing wait time between zones and increasing zone close speed.

  • Reduced max queue time to 3 minutes.

  • Made parachute auto deploy if you get close and don't pull the chute. No more splats. Also adding an option to remove this feature so you can pull a chute at your discretion.

  • Made trigger mode on by default for new players.

  • Updated holographic and wrist watch maps to include new locations.

  • Updated all in game billboards to have fake Erebus Corp ads.

  • Temporarily disabled squads to focus on a more polished FFA mode. New squads mode coming soon.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed a bug where players were invisible in private zones.

  • Fixed a bug where players could spawn in the elevator roof.

  • Fixed a bug where players could bring guns into main lobby area.

  • Fixed a bug where everyone's gun could vibrate on one players reload.

  • Fixed a bug where ziplines would hit a stop point before ending.

  • Fixed a bug where the wrong ambient SFX would play in the lobby.

  • Fixed a bug where players magazines would float around them.

  • Fixed a bug where Sam the Robot would not talk to you.

  • Fixed a bug where the Alpha skin would not appear in the private lobby.

  • Fixed a bug where skin selection would not work.

  • Fixed a bug where push reload was not working on magazines.

  • Fixed a bug where bots would not kill each other.

  • Fixed a bug where front hand grip animation would pop open relentlessly.

  • Fixed a bug where solo victory achievements were not getting unlocked on steam.

  • Fixed a bug where players name tags would appear at some point after they land.

  • Fixed a bug where dying from a fall would not register your death to other players.

  • Fixed a bug where you could not grab grenades from your backpack.

  • Fixed a bug where it looked like other players were gripping in the wrong location of guns.

  • Fixed a bug where your front hand would break if you held a gun with two hands and then release your front hand very far away from the gun.

  • Fixed a bug where hitting join match sometimes took multiple clicks.

  • Fixed a bug where a forced reload could occur by bringing a second weapon close to its magazine.

  • Fixed a rare bug where you could get teleported back into the helicopter and die instantly.

  • Fixed a bug where you could get multiple victories on a single victory.

  • Fixed a bug where you could not invite friends into your lobby.

  • Fixed a bug where victory / death music was not tied to music volume.

  • Fixed a bug where the game was not ending for some players.

  • Fixed a bug where the backpack held animations were off.

  • Fixed a bug where the game could hard freeze for multiple people at once.

  • Fixed a bug where bots would not die for some players.

Game Optimizations

  • Added aggressive occlusion culling, loding, and static batching methods that improved performance in high density locations like Sandford, Asylum and Warehouse district

  • Optimized object poolers by disabling meshes of all objects not currently in use.

  • Improved performance of AI drastically by switching from collision to distance checks for player search functions

  • Improved performance of UI by replacing Unity Canvases with custom shaders.
