Vespia: Shield of Aberration changes
Hi everyone!
After we released the game demo in a relatively early state, we have been getting some valuable feedback and data. In this post, we will go other some of the upcoming content that we have been planning for the game.
Endless Mode
Endless mode is the biggest thing coming with the next demo update. This will likely be the last large content patch we will be putting into the demo before we move to work on finalising and releasing the full game.
Endless mode has several new features, and will work in the following ways:
In endless mode, the waves are calculated algorithmically using a seeded random. This means that you will have the same waves as everyone else, and each level will be consistent every time you play.
You will only start with some basic cards unlocked, further cards need to be unlocked through the mid-wave shop.
Between each wave, a shop will open which allows you to purchase upgrades. This includes new cards, upgrades to your characters and global upgrades such as increased damage which will allow you to survive longer.
In the demo, you will be limited in how long you can play for before being forced to restart.
Other features that we are thinking about but haven't finalised:
Global & Friend leaderboards
We hope that this content will improve the replayability of the demo, and provide a preview of deck-building mechanics in a small vertical slice of the game.
Quality of Life Improvements
Pause Menu
We will be introducing a pause menu that allows you to configure your settings mid-game.
Manual Wave Progression
Currently, after each wave you have about 5 seconds to setup your characters before the next wave appears. We plan to change this so that the player has to manually progress to the next wave, allowing you to have time to customise your defense between waves.
Improved Tooltips
We will be expanding where we use tooltips to include the spells assigned to a character. Currently players are forced to remember what each spell does, which can be daunting for a new player. With tooltips, it will be much easier to analyse a character and determine how to improve their combat effectiveness.
