VANRAN changes

removedThe beings who had once been human could no longer think for themselves. They were alive, but they were no longer themselves.

Humans taken as slaves to the Demon Realm had only two choices.

One was to accept Asen, a fruit cultivated by the demons, into their bodies.

The other was to attempt escape.

Few who chose to flee survived.

The demons were conducting experiments to transform various races into demons, beginning with humans. Those who endured the power of Asen gradually underwent physical and mental changes. Successful subjects began hearing the voices of higher demons.

Those voices became commands.

And those commands became their will.

The beings who had once been human could no longer think for themselves. They were alive, but they were no longer themselves.

The wardens of the prisons where humans were confined belonged to a demonic race known as the Madan.

The Madan worshiped iron.

To them, steel was a faith, and martial prowess was the measure of one's worth. Obtaining stronger weapons and becoming stronger warriors were the goals of their lives.

They despised humans, yet secretly looked forward to their escape attempts.

Runaway slaves made excellent prey.

Hunting down and defeating fleeing humans was one of the greatest pleasures through which a Madan warrior could prove their strength.

That was why the prison gates were strong, but never perfect.

Someone always left a gap.

And someone else was always waiting for someone to find it.
