The Valor Mortis Global Playtest starts on October 8!

Soldiers! La Grande Armée is seeking brave and diligent individuals to join the conquest on the Eastern front. The coming weeks will be the final chance to join the global playtest of Valor Mortis so that you can be one of the first in the known world to take on this noble challenge.

Whether you’re a veteran soulslike player or if you’re more interested in the Napoleonic setting, we’d love to hear what you think of our game in this playtest. We’re trying to do something fresh with our first-person melee combat system and we want it to be the best game it can be. Your feedback will be essential to achieving that.

New additions and updates

We did an initial round of pre-alpha testing with players at gamescom and PAX West last month. From those sessions, we’ve already made a number of improvements and added new features. The global playtest pre-alpha will include 15 localized languages.

Global Playtest Schedule

Oct 6 - First Access

On October 6, players who have signed up at https://valormortis.firstlook.gg/ will get first access to the playtest.

Oct 8 - Steam playtest

Then, on October 8, we will start inviting players who have signed up directly through Steam.

Oct 13 - Conclusion

Finally, the playtest will conclude on October 13.

Once you have played, please complete the playtest survey. We also watch the Steam forums and our Discord so you can discuss with fellow soldiers in those spaces.

Community Contests

We’ve also lined up Community Contests where you can win prize packs, including a copy of the game at launch. There are three different areas so you can participate in your own way.

Speedrun Contest

• The fastest recorded speedrun of the playtest level will be crowned as Napoleon’s strongest soldier.

• To enter, players will need to record and post their speedrun somewhere where we and community moderators can confirm your time. This can be YouTube, Twitch Vod or another publicly accessible video hosting platform.

Fanart and Screenshot Contests

We will select winners who post fan art and screenshots. They can be posted to Steam, our Discord server, social media or Reddit to enter.

• Discord - Must join the server and post to the contest channel

• Steam - Must follow the game on Steam

• Social Media - must use #valormortis in a publicly visible post and follow the official Valor Mortis account. Twitter, Instagram, Bluesky, and TikTok are eligible.

• Reddit - must post to r/valormortis and join the subreddit
