VALHALL: Harbinger changes
Skål, Vikings!
Today's update is all about the overall health of the game. We’ve been reading through your feedback and digging directly into your bug reports. As a result, this patch is entirely focused on optimization, stability, and squashing those frustrating inventory issues.
Here is everything included in today's patch:
Optimization and Performance
Slashed the overall game size by 4 GB to free up some space on your drive.
Boosted framerates by roughly 5 to 10 percent. You will feel this improvement the most if you are playing on Low or Medium settings.
Improved general network stability and addressed rare co-op disconnects.
World and Gameplay
Added a shooting range to the hub alongside new target models.
Added small flax fields and clusters in logical locations, such as near water sources and on sunlit hills.
Fixed the remaining issues preventing the proper placement of furnaces, campfires, and fireplaces inside of your houses.
Both Cinematic Blur and Film Grain are now disabled by default. Please double-check your graphical settings and turn them off again if they accidentally switched on after the update.
Brought back the option to use Directional combat attacks in the control settings.
Inventory and Item Fixes
Fixed torches continuously losing durability and spamming your screen with the "Broken" notification when using other tools.
Fixed an issue where item durability would decrease simply by swapping slots in your inventory.
Resolved a bug that prevented unequipped items from moving or dropping from your bags if you currently had another tool equipped in your hotbar.
Fixed weapons disappearing from your hands when dropped or swapped.
Fixed berries, mushrooms, and other non-breakable items incorrectly showing up as broken when used.
Implemented a tentative fix for newly crafted weapons breaking from a single hit. We will continue monitoring this.
General Bug Fixes
Player corpses will now correctly display your actual character name instead of your Steam account name.
Freed the bots that were getting permanently stuck in place around the spawn and hub areas.
Fixed rugs being indestructible.
Addressed the mysterious orange screen issue. It should be gone now. If you still encounter it, disabling Film Grain and Cinematic Blur should act as a workaround.
Fixed a rare bug where the pause menu would get completely stuck when returning from the options screen.
Prevented characters from actively attacking in the background while you are navigating the settings menu in co-op.
Huge thanks for all the reports. Enjoy the smoother gameplay, and we’ll see you out there!
Skål!
