  • Compatibility
changedGetting the ball to land correctly within the shot circle based on shot quality • Making the "Perfect Shot" aiming arc account for wind and accurately show the landing position • Taking my very first swing after implementing controller support • Wiring up all the climbing logic in the city level. After more than 5 years of development, the day is finally here. Urban Golf: Hot Dog Edition has been released.

This game has been built in those small windows of free time in the evenings, after the kids had gone to bed. It has been a long journey, and without a doubt the biggest project I have ever taken on. There were definitely moments where it felt like I might have bitten off more than I could chew, so reaching this point feels really special.

Here are a few personal highlights from the journey:

  • Getting the ball to land correctly within the shot circle based on shot quality • Making the "Perfect Shot" aiming arc account for wind and accurately show the landing position • Taking my very first swing after implementing controller support • Wiring up all the climbing logic in the city level. This took a full week on its own • Solving camera angles for tight shots between buildings • Figuring out how to let players apply spin mid air, with a lot of maths involved

Thank you to everyone who supported me along the way. It really did make a difference.

Now, go and hit some ridiculous shots!

Thanks, Matt
