Undercroft changes
Work on the full version of Undercroft has been going steady. Since the game has changed pretty drastically since the demo was released, I figured I would make an update that included those changes. What are those changes you ask?
New Settings Menu
This is actually the first thing I worked on after finishing the demo, since the pause menu was the biggest thing I was disappointed with. It's gone through a major overhaul. Many quality of life changes have been included.
For one, there are now variable sound settings, allowing you to set the volume of music and sound effects to one of six different levels. There is also a new reset button that becomes available after you first discover and use the reset code, making it so you don't have to remember the code every time you want to reset.
A brand new Documents tab has been added to the menu, allowing you to reread any major documents you have discovered through your playthrough. This will be extremely helpful for puzzles, allowing you to reread relevant information.
There is also a new Equipment tab that details the different pieces of equipment that you currently have available. Each page includes a description of how the equipment works, and some juicy lore for the world of Undercroft.
The final added tab is related to another one of the major inclusions in this new demo...
Artifacts
Artifacts are collectibles found throughout the world of Undercroft, finding one allows access to a lore page detailing the history of the world of Undercroft, shedding light on details that players might be curious about. There will be sixteen Artifacts in the full version, but there are only five in the demo. Each artifact is hidden in the enviroment, pay attention to strange room layouts. Can you find them all?
New Music
My skills in making music has drastically improved since first making the music for the demo, and so I've updated some of the music to reflect that.
As stated previously, the demo represents about a third of the full game's contents. As far as progress, I'm about half way through finishing the second third of the game. I've been working on this game since February 2024, and with how game development goes, being over twenty five percent finished with the full game is not that bad. I understand that the wait is agonizing, so here are a few teasers as to what I've been working on.
I won't give a release date for Undercroft just yet, since I have no idea how long making the rest of the game will take. I'll do my best to have at least a release window next post I make.
Thank you all for playing the demo, reading your kind words has been super affirming. It's been great motivation to keep working. I hope you're all excited for the full release!
