Fighting Together: Multiplayer Development Update

Hello Warriors,

Since launch, players have asked to face the horrors of the Citadel alongside friends. We’ve been working hard to make that possible, and we’re excited to share that multiplayer is already playable internally.

But our goal isn’t to simply add co-op. We want multiplayer to feel like a true evolution of Undead Citadel.

Building Combat That Feels Right

Because the game relies heavily on physics-driven melee combat, multiplayer presents unique technical challenges. We’re developing advanced synchronization systems so enemies behave consistently for all players, even during shared interactions like two players grabbing the same foe.

To keep combat responsive, we’re also implementing distributed physics simulation. Objects and enemies you interact with are simulated locally whenever possible, reducing perceived latency and preserving the tactile feel of combat.

New Tools for Team Survival

Multiplayer introduces new layers of coordination and identity:

  • Player customization and skins to distinguish teammates: You’ll be able to easily distinguish your teammates through customization options. This lays the foundation for a proper skin system and a stronger player identity.

  • New weapons designed for cooperative chaos: We are creating additional weapons to enhance it.

  • A dedicated dungeon minimap for navigation: Multiplayer will include its own minimap system to improve orientation and team coordination inside dungeons.

  • Multiplayer-exclusive power-ups that encourage teamworkThere will be abilities and upgrades designed specifically for cooperative play, encouraging new strategies and playstyles.

Current Status

The mode is functional and playable but still requires polishing, balancing, optimization, and additional content.

Our ambition is clear: multiplayer should not feel like an add-on, but like a richer, more dynamic way to experience the Citadel. We look forward to sharing more soon.
