New Playtest Starts Tomorrow, New Alpha Tank Later This Month

Welcome to the latest dev update for Tyr. This time we're talking about our 10+ day playtest, recent small patch, upcoming tourney info, and a new tank bound for the Alpha Program later this month.

Playtest begins tomorrow; here are the details

Our next Tyr playtest starts tomorrow, July 17th at 3pm PT, and runs until July 26th at 6pm PT.

This is another longer playtest for us, and we’re excited to get everyone back in. If you’ve already requested access on Steam, keep an eye out. We’ll be continuing to let more players in throughout the playtest.

Here’s when the playtest starts and ends in major time zones around the world.

How to join...

If you're not already a playtester for Tyr, you’ve got two ways in:

• Request access on Steam - It’s random, but we admit players in growing waves ahead of each playtest. This next one will see a lot of invites, so sit tight.

• Ask for an invite in our Discord - Our community has access to invites that provide instant playtest admission.

Small patch deployed today

Ahead of this playtest, we also deployed a small patch that fixes a few critical issues we wanted to clean up before opening the gates again. This includes fixes for momentum shells, Deadeye’s Keystone, and Custom Games.

Nothing too flashy here, but all of those were important to get in before the next playtest starts.

Seeker is coming at the end of July

At the end of July, we’re planning to add a new tank to the Tyr Alpha Program: Seeker.

Some players may actually recognize a very, very early prototype of this tank flying across the screen in a Short we posted several months ago. It's changed a lot since then.

Seeker is a small, light tank with a high max speed. Seeker's ability deploys a tracker droid that hunts down and pings the closest enemy. If there are no enemies in range yet, it will loiter in the area and activate once it detects one. It's great for scouting and hunting down elusive enemies

To be super clear, Seeker will not be available at the start of this playtest. We’re planning to add Seeker at the end of July, so this playtest will start with the current Alpha Program roster, then Seeker will join later this month.

Remember: Seeker. End of July. Not tomorrow.

July tourney championship this Saturday

Our next Tyr tournament is this Saturday, July 18th.

Just like last time, we’ll be streaming the championship match on YouTube. THUMBS is looking to maintain its undefeated run after winning the last several tournaments, and we’re excited to see if anyone can finally knock them off the top spot.

Upcoming monthly tourneys

In case you don't already know, we're hosting monthly tournaments for Tyr. These tournaments are open to any playtester so long as they sign up and either have or are placed on a team, and there's a standard cash prize pool at stake.

• 1st place: $1,300 USD

• 2nd place: $700 USD

• 3rd and 4th place: $250 USD each

We’re also locking in a few more monthly tournament dates now, so if you want to plan ahead:

• August 15

• September 19

• October 17
