changedIrish LocalisationTurscar is the Irish for spam, repurposing a word for “rotten seaweed”, and I’d like to start using Irish more. It also gives me a way to test the localisation work I’d already done (i.e. no hard-coded strings) for future work.
changedIrish LocalisationWhile I did run everything through An Gramadóir’s online checker , there might be some mistakes. I’m more concerned with getting the UI correct than anything else, and I’m not going to bother with localising grafiti or voice lines because EVERYONE knows that ENGLISH R TEH TRUU SPEAKAGE OF TEH INTERNETZ!!!1!!
changedNo-gear levelI have adjusted some sectors to go with this, which will be visible in the demo.
changedOther changesHacking doors and servers have sounds now. Purely atmospheric, but it helps.
changedOther changesWhen swapping sectors, the player will now face forwards in the new sector. Honestly, I should have done that ages ago!

Irish Localisation

Why Irish? Bhuel, ba mhaith liom í níos minice a labhair…agus toisc gur é “turscar” an Gaeilge do “spam”!

Turscar is the Irish for spam, repurposing a word for “rotten seaweed”, and I’d like to start using Irish more. It also gives me a way to test the localisation work I’d already done (i.e. no hard-coded strings) for future work.

While I did run everything through An Gramadóir’s online checker, there might be some mistakes. I’m more concerned with getting the UI correct than anything else, and I’m not going to bother with localising grafiti or voice lines because EVERYONE knows that ENGLISH R TEH TRUU SPEAKAGE OF TEH INTERNETZ!!!1!!

No-gear level

Not in the demo itself, but the main game will have an additional starting position. You’ll be starting as one of the spammers’ kidnapping victims, escaping the island. No gear, no ability to fight back - just pure stealth.

I have adjusted some sectors to go with this, which will be visible in the demo.

Other changes

  • Big Head Mode can be turned on! There’s a hidden switch somewhere in the main level. Why? Because it’s funny!

  • Hacking doors and servers have sounds now. Purely atmospheric, but it helps.

  • When swapping sectors, the player will now face forwards in the new sector. Honestly, I should have done that ages ago!
