Train Your Minibot changes
Welcome to update 0.7! This is the final minor version release before 1.0. Train Your Minibot now has 30 total levels as I had always hoped to include. As well all known bugs have been fixed, the UI has been improved, and performance has been significantly increased (Steam Deck is quite a fun way to play).
I am extremely proud of the current state of the game and I hope you enjoy it as much as I have over the years. Although, this is not the end of development on TYM; below the patch notes I have included the roadmap to 1.0 if you are interested.
Major Changes
12 NEW LEVELS ADDED bringing the game to a total of 30 levels!
New Object Selection System, now raycasts from camera to finger tip instead of detection under the hand
Minor Changes
Reworked the "Floor is Lava" system for more accurate detection
Further improved the In-Game Button Scaling
Improved the Level Editor menu UI
Minibot ragdoll effect has been greatly improved
Improved the logic of the Mute button on Main Menu
Bug Fixes
An edge-case where Duck place-able became impossible to select
Wind would push Minibot off Start while placing objects
Minibot could be pushed off Finish
Locked Levels can no longer be selected
Cardboard Bottom Flaps will no longer occasionally kill Minibot
Workshop level preview images will no longer show Aeroplane route
Cleanup of base game level preview images
The initial resolution setting will no longer set to the lowest supported value
If you find any bugs please do report them either in the Steam Discussions or over on the Fishagon Discord!
Roadmap to 1.0
Reordering all 30 levels by difficulty & learning curve
Improved Controller Support
Steam Deck Verified
Complete Rework of Lights
Expanded Settings Menus
These are the final four items I have planned for the 1.0 Update.
The levels are currently in the order they were added to the game. Some of the final 12 levels that were included in this update are easier than earlier levels, but provide a better learning curve to some of the mechanics (especially the Aeroplane). 1.0 will reset unlocked levels unfortunately, but it is necessary for a better first-time player experience.
Controller Support Improvements and Steam Deck verification are high priorities for the game. When I bring the game to conventions, this is how the game is played and I have received a lot of feedback on ways to improve this experience.
The lighting currently in the game makes up majority of the game disk space. Almost 700MBs of the game is dedicated to light bakes. And honestly, the shadows are not looking the best they could. I want to improve the overall visual quality of the game, reduce the file size, and make shadows as visually clear as possible (after all, shadows are a great landing indicator).
And finally the settings menu currently is adequate, but do not allow you to fine-tune your graphics. This is a minor thing overall, but one that I believe any modern game should support.
Have thoughts or suggestions on how to improve the game? Click that Discord link above and let me know! This is the final push to Full Release!
Lastly... When? The current goal is June 20th.
